Direct Dial Widgets Wiped Out

All of my Direct Dial Widgets disappeared again. It occasionally happens. Why? No system update, so I doubt that caused it. 8T on TMo.

Which Contacts app did you use to create those widgets (stock, Google's ...)? Have you received a recent update for that app or for your Launcher?

If I remember correctly there were some problems with the Direct Dial widgets created with the OP stock app. Try creating them again with Google Contacts app and see if they don't disappear.

I used the stock app to create the direct Dial Widgets. I didn't know you could create them with Google! How do you do that?

Install Google Contacts app, if you don't have it already, and search for the Direct Dial in the widget list after a long press in your home screen.

In my screenshot the first one is OP stock and Google's second.

Ugh. Did it happen while you were using the phone or right after a reboot? I've seen a few similar reports, mostly with Nord models, and in some cases it was related to a third party app that had access to Contacts.

I'm not sure what else to suggest, sorry. One option could be using a different launcher and see if the problem persists.

Just in case, go to settings - apps & notifications - app permissions - Contacts and see which apps are allowed. Deny access to any app that it's not strictly necessary.

Thanks Javier, I just noticed it when I took it off the charger this morning. So no obvious "triggers" to speak of.

I'm stock everything, so I could try a different launcher. Or maybe just wait for the S22 Ultra
