Directories (folders) & photos...

[unrooted EVO 3D] Took the phone to Target to use the photo printer. When I (finally) got the Kodak PC to recognize my phone, it brought up several copies of many of my photos. It also brought up all the album covers for music files as photos. It also brought up a lot of icons, web page graphics, etc. as "photos."

Where can I learn about the folders, directories, etc. that the EVO 3D uses to store stuff? It seems I have different resolutions of photos based on whether they were Facebook downloads, received in text messages or taken by the camera.

Can anyone point me toward information about any of this stuff so that I can learn more about it?

Do I need to root this phone in order to see/learn the directory structure?

Thanks.

:)

You don't need to root the phone in order to see the file directory structure. Just plug the phone into your computer via a USB connection, and select Disc Dive mode on the phone. You should then be able to see and search the phone's directory structure just like any portable hard drive you connect to the computer. Alternatively, you can also download one of the apps (like Astro File Manager, for example - there are several free ones available) which allows you to explore the directory structure directly on the phone itself.

The camera photos are in the DCIM folder, all the album art etc is prolly from your music player... Most of what you see being loaded up are thumbnails, which allow your phone to appear to load faster on certain screens(aka gallery)

Thanks to both of you for the answers. It helps a lot to know where in the structure certain kinds of files are saved or downloaded.

[Hijacking my own thread...] What are the best available instructions for rooting an EVO 3D, and will I still get an automatic update to Android 4.0 if I root this phone? Thanks.
