Disable 3G radio

Hello, I don't have my Epic [yet]... but that will change soon, for sure.

Has anyone yet looked into disabling the 3G radio completely? I live in a 4G footprint and 85% of the places around here I visit are in the WiMax footprint.

So, seeing as how 3G kills battery life and.. well, is uhm... soooo last decade..

anyone?

When 4g is active, 3g goes off. Also, 4g uses a lot more battery than 3g.

also, while wimax radio might consume more juice, i find that 3g (on my pre) drains my battery because it appears to be cycling between towers and/or searching.

on 3g currently i am consistently either 5 bars or none. :?

just so you know, i wouldnt really expect anything close to what your signature has in it.

maybe once or twice i scored an 8 mbps and for some reason it only happens in this one area. i tried it with full bars in other areas and it only gets around 2.5

but im pretty sure the 3g radio is turned off when 4g is enabled. if not thatd be ridiculously stupid.
and 4g im pretty sure will kill your battery faster than 3g. but not as bad as people make it sound. if youre in an area with good 4g signal youll be alright. its in places where people get spotty 1 bar of 4g and try to keep it connected that battery drain is major. if your battery is getting drained that bad on 3g i gues your just screwed haha jk
