Disable/Enable Apps

So we all know that the HTC one s let's you enable and disable apps. If I was to do that will it free up ram, make my phone faster? & what apps are safe to disable.

T-Mobile has a discussion in their support forum with some guy huffing about being unable to disable mobile life. T-Mobile responded and said only a few, maybe 3, couldn't be disabled because it could cause instability but it still can be prevented from syncing. They also describe exactly what the feature does. Basically, the apps won't function, won't update, are hidded from the apps list, and are moved to the bottom of app management. It will only save space buy preventing future updates though, but disabling something syncing or running in the background may give you some ram back. Warning: optimizing something running just fine can sometimes be a path to pain. Go check out the article.

so far i have disabled 411 & more, bonus apps, games base, more for me, news & weather, slacker, t-mobile mall, and zinio and have had no issues at all.

If you disable the news&weather does the HTC clock weather widget still update the weather?

I also disabled facebook for sense, all the other facebook apps, Twitter apps, facebook api engine, Twitter api engine, trends widget, flicker, flicker API engine..and a couple other

yes it still updates, that is a seperate application.

I know this thread has been quiet for a bit but I just picked up the One S last Friday and one of the first things I explored was app management.

I have disabled many of the same apps ppl mentioned above. I had actually come here looking for info on that stupid mobile life app and I see (unfortch) that I will have to continue having it enabled but not sync.

To the user who mentioned disabling facebook for HTC sense, am I right in understanding that you don't use FB at all and that's why you've got it disabled?

I use FB and FB messenger but I would like to disable FB for sense. I had both some of my other older tmo android devices - one case I actually liked it, and used it to sync some aspects of the contacts and another where i didn't use it.

I'm wondering if disabling it will cause any problems with the phone recognizing my being logged into FB in other "locations" (what I mean is, if I'm logged into the reg FB app, I can pull up FB in my browser and it knows I'm logged in. same with other apps that use FB to log in (imgur, goodreads, etc)

I gueeeeeeeess I can just try disabling it and see what happens but I don't want to (for who knows what reason) have another FB-initiated crash (yea, I updated the app and had my first phone freakout-crash the other day.)
