Edit: NEVER MIND. Under "General Settings" (not your email) within the Gmail App you can disable "swipe to archive" as well as request confirmation for "sending, archiving, and deleting." That pretty much covers any damage I can do. :)

Can the new swiping feature of gmail be disabled? With the new interface, labeling, and swiping that the refresh ushered in about a month ago, sometimes I inadvertently do things before I realized it. Actually what would be nice is an "undue command" since it can happen so fast that I am not even sure what I did or where to look for it.

Cool! Sounds like you found the answer on your own. :)

Isn't that the truth with with most things in life if we actually stop, think about, and and put some effort in trying to solve problems ourselves? One get kinds of spoiled and lazy with being able to turn to these forums for quick solutions. :)

So many things I dislike about the new and improved GMail app, I went back to reading email in the browser.

I'm getting used to it, but the one thing that bugs are the three icons when you are inside an individual email -- archive, delete (if you've enabled delete to show), and read/unread. The pictures of those icons, other than the trash can, didn't seem very intuitive visually to me for the action they executed. The other thing that took me awhile to get used but now that I have I like it, is how you can press on the photo (icon column on the left side of your inbox) of multiple emails so you can highlight as many as you want and then execute one action for all of them. But the "check mark" and "done" was confusing as well as realizing the difference between pressing the email's icon to highlight it versus pressing the body of the email to open and work inside it. Again, the read/unread toggle being a closed envelope threw me off because I think of a closed envelope as "unread" but it kind of is reverse in the new interface. You press a closed envelope icon to mark as unread and you press a open envelope icon to mark as read.
