Disable Google Mail app & Make Default Mail app default

I use the Gmail app my mail client, but I want to switch to the default mail client (the one that comes out of the box).

I setup the default mail client to handle my email, but how to I now disable the Gmail app so I do not receive double notifications?

If it matters I use google as my primary email account.

You'll have to go to Application Manager under settings, and find the GMAIL app, and then you can uninstall/disable/hide notifications.
