Recently received my pre-order from Samsung, the S9. I didn't find any threads in the forum on this so I figured I would share what I learned.
I hate the peek/heads up notification that appears on your screen while you are doing something else. I prefer to just have the notification icon in the top bar. If someone is looking at my phone they don't need to see any BBM/whatsapp/hangouts messages.
So after searching I couldn't find a way through apps or notifications. But I did find an app for "Tasker" called "Auto Notificaton". It works as a standalone app to disable the pop/up/preview notification even if the developer hasn't updated their app to support the new Android Oreo app notification features.
For the persistent batter notifications I found this site that was useful: https://9to5google.com/2017/10/26/h...eo-using-battery-notification-android-basics/
