AT&T Galaxy S8 Disable text messages (SMS/MMS) while overseas

I am traveling overseas and have an international data plan, but I want to disable text messages or turn off retrieval.

Does anyone know of a way to do disable SMS/MMS?

I have tried disabling packages that have "message" in them, but I still receive texts.

You can disable MMS retrieval in the messaging app settings (it should, in theory, be turned off for roaming by default) but unfortunately there is no such setting for SMS. The only way of 'turning them off' is not to be connected to the mobile network.
