Yes, it seems in order to be certified USB product, the power leads need to be intact, so data only cables seem to be mostly unavailable.
I was hopeful about this nondestructive hack:
USB condom, and yet with the power leads blocked, the cable does not lend functionality to Spacedesk for android as a monitor.
It is unfortunate connected android devices need to drain a laptop battery when connected, and a true data only cable would not help in this case anyway.
This would probably be the realm of the BIOS disabling power sharing but even then would likely render the usb connection unusable in this context.
Next I will look into setting up a wifi hotspot that does not need an internet connection. I tried one such program for Win10,
MyPublicWiFi, and yet the latency seemed near 500ms which makes for a tedious second monitor interface.
Anyone with thoughts on setting up a speedy wifi hotspot for a network adapter that does not have hosted network support?
