LG G6
I know this topic has been covered over and over again but I still cannot figure out my exact issue.
As some of you may know, there are 1.5 million xfinity wifi connections that are open to the public. Ive been using the same connection for over a year and yesterday I started getting the dreaded "disabled" message on this connection. My laptops and other devices are still utilizing it fine. Ive clicked airplane mode off and on, reset network settings, deleted third party apps, whatever I could think of. I message LG and Comcast and they were no help.
Ive seen plenty of people fix the issue but its usually on their home connection where they can reset it or disable a password. (the xfinity connection does not ask for password, just lets you click "connect".)
Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!!!

Also, I put my phone into safe mode to disabled third party apps and still nothing.
Saw a post about switching to static IP and nada.
Just changed my phone name and nothing.
Trying to contact comcast to see if my IP has been blacklisted. I did the static method though with a different IP and still didnt work.

Thank you!!!

Welcome to Android Central! Did you also try forgetting the xfinitywifi SSID, and then reconnecting? I see this kind of thing with Safeway's wi-fi -- if I connect successfully in one store and then try to connect to their wi-fi in another store, it will seem to connect, but there will be no actual connection. Once I forget the Safeway SSID and then connect again, it works immediately. I suspect it has to to do with the phone expecting a different network authentication or something.

Also keep in mind that any Xfinity subscriber can also disable their router's xfinitywifi SSID, so you might also be trying to connect to a disabled network hotspot.

Just curious but why are you relying upon Comcast's public WiFi network instead of just using your own WiFi network sourced from your own Comcast modem/router?

Good point. It's fine to piggyback on someone else's network if they've kept their free public xfinitywifi SSID active, but if they suddenly decided to disable that free public hotspot, then you'll have to look for other options.

But it's certainly possible that the OP doesn't have their own network and has been making use of this free public Xfinity option, since Comcast made it widely available without the need for an Xfinity login in response to the pandemic: www.xfinity.com/support/articles/open-xfinity-wifi-hotspots

Thank you for the response. Yes, ive chose to "forget network" several times.
The connection isnt completely disabled because both of my laptops are using the connection as we speak.

Also, comcast wanted $130 a month just for internet at this location and I dont use it enough to justify the cost.
The open xfinity connection has worked great since 2019 and still does, its just something with my phone.
I do have a third party texting app but I dont see any data monitoring issues with it like ive seen other people have with the same issue.

Since it's a free open public hotspot, I don't see how anyone could blacklist you -- the owner of the actual router would only be able to disable the free hotspot completely, not pick and choose who can access it.

Do you have any security apps running? (Although that shouldn't be the issue if the problem still happens in Safe Mode.)

Is this a work-provided phone, or is this your own phone that you use to access work accounts? If so, there might be a security protocol that prevents you from accessing open public networks.

Ok that makes sense, I was just going by what I read online.
No security apps.
My personal phone.
Where would I look to turn off said security protocol?
I really appreciate the help

The security protocols I'm thinking about would be if the phone were being used for work, and if your IT department had installed some security credentials or mobile device management software that might prevent this kind of connection. Since you don't use it for work, then that's unlikely.

Sorry, I didn't realize you were talking about Comcast themselves blacklisting you, rather than the individual owner of the router that's broadcasting that SSID. Did they respond to you?

Also, does the phone connect to other xifinitywifi hotspots away from your home?

I realize this probably wouldn't be feasible, but if you know the owner of the router that's broadcasting the SSID and you're on good terms with them, maybe you could ask them to try rebooting the router.
