Apparently, this is old news (November 2012,), but a search on the AC forum search did not yield the answer I was looking for. Because Xperia ZLs just got the update, I figured posting the link here would help those who share my concern at having an unlocked camera accessible to just about anyone. Here's a link to a Cnet post on how to Disabling camera / widgets from lockscreen on 4.2.2.

Long press the widget and move it upward towards the top. This should remove the widget.

I've read around that doing this sometimes doesn't work without rebooting the device. I'm not sure why this is so, consider a reboot if long pressing the widgets doesn't work then try again. .

I didn't want to just remove a widget, I wanted to whole kit gone, because none of what's available is of any use to me on a lockscree at the moment. I also killed the camera because i feel that an unlocked camera is a "bad joke" problem waiting to happen.
