Disabling Virgin/Sprint's Bandwith Throttling [TUT/TEST]

Step by step please?

Download Connectbot on your device

Open Connectbot. In the small dropdown box on the bottom left that says SSH, click and choose local. Put Android or whatever in the nickname box and hit enter.

Click on Android.

Type getprop.

It will show a long list.

The ril info didn't all come back together on my phone, it was scattered through the log info. A total of three ril lines were provided.

Im with u on this.. I played around with launcherpro after our talk on the other thead.. I found 2 different places it might b, but neither asked me for the code. It was like it was typed n already when u click n to it... They r n the service program catagory.. .... 1 of them end with msl and the other says virginmsl

When you did this, were you able to actually find the MSL code on your Optimus V?

Yeah I messed around in a couple of the hidden settings but I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for

This might be worth a shot but there is an MSL generator on this webpage that generates your MSL based off your ESN/MEID. This might be able to help you find your MSL if its something you need to input...

Android - whiterabbit.org
"use the MSL generated in the form below "

I know its for MetroPCS stuff but Metro's webservice requires your phone's MSL as a password to surf from the phone, thus it should work as a general MSL generator as long as you can find your phone's MEID/ESN.

Nope, just tried the generator on my Optimus S and it did not take it (meaning it didn't match the OTKSL or the MSL).
Quickest way to "ask" for the code is to call tech support up and tell then you are getting 1012 errors. Most likely they will tell you to hit ##3282# (##data#), then the 6 digit code that follows is your MSL/SPC code.

virgin told me over the phone that they didnt have it, and if they did that they couldnt give it out...

Hey OP, any help here

Since the OP made this guide, I assume he was able to get this working somehow. Can you please explain to the rest of us which rom you were using and the exact procedure you used to obtain your MSL?

For some reason the ##3282# code did not work for me. When I use the ##786# I see the RTN Screen which allows me to view detail and return to default. Is this the same screen that ##3282# uses?

If any one goes to this screen be sure NOT TO RESET TO DEFAULT WITH A CUSTOM ROM!

This is my personal disclaimer because I am not actually sure what this function does, but I know its a bad idea to wipe your data from the phone. I heard its always best to wipe from recovery.

Still trying to figure out the msl, but you get to and change every hidden setting by useing launcherpro. Its the Same way josh found the hidden hotspot settings.. But just to let everyone know the settings for this topic is already set to all 0's

Yea that and cdma workshop would work also, but not for me becuz I use ubuntu.. Anyone who uses windows just download the crack version 2.7 cdma workshop .. Google optimus msl cdma workshop for instructions.. I use to have it bookmarked but I cant use it so I deleted it

When I type in ##3282# nothing happens. This thread is a huge mess and half of everything said does not work for a majority of people. Maybe some one could start a fresh thread with detailed instructions? I guess there are two ways of doing this? Lets hear it in a new detailed thread! :)

Sry for the confusion.. But the topic is pointless now becuase everything is set to 0 already.. But if u want your msl just lookup one of the programs that were talked about
