Disadvantages between Samsung unlocked and AT&T variant?

I normally go with the AT&T version but I'm considering ordering an unlocked version directly from Samsung. I've read that the unlocked version won't have AT&T's WiFi calling which I don't care about. Are there any other issues dealing with the unlocked version on the AT&T network? For example, is getting security and OS updates an issue? Cell service? Thanks.

I went with my first unlocked phone when ordering last night. AT&T is my provider as well. Wasn't even getting the Wi-Fi calling to work when I ordered AT&T models previously (not that I cared to use it though). My understanding is we swap our SIM card over and are good to go. I will probably call AT&T when I get my S20 Ultra and let them know about the new device on their network. My research leads me to believe they won't be able to charge us an upgrade fee either, especially if you buy your phone outright.

I normally just get the ATT version and finance it using the NEXT program (24 months, upgradable after 12 months). But, this time ATT only offers the 30 month financing upgradable after 15 months with an extra charge of $5/mo to upgrade. Samsung, however, offers 24 month financing upgradable after 12 months with no extra charges, but the phone needs to be unlocked. Samsung's deal is cheaper and allows me to upgrade sooner.

Thus, I'm asking what are the consequences of ordering an unlocked phone versus an ATT variant on the ATT network.
