Disappearing Emails

I've had my Galaxy S2 for about two years (I think), and I've had the problem of disappearing e-mail from the beginning. I usually check my e-mail on my PC, and it *is* coming in. But on my phone, many of the messages I want to read or save disappear. I've even looked in the trash folder to see whether the missing messages were automatically deleted for some reason, but the ones I really wanted to read never seem to be there. Since most of the e-mail I get these days is junk mail, I thought there might be some kind of setting that detects junk mail and automatically gets rid of it. But if that were the case, I shouldn't have lost the messages I really wanted to read or reply to.

If there is an solution, I certainly would like to know what it is!

This is still a problem. My son gave me a Galaxy Pro tablet for Christmas. I have been battling the disappearing emails all this month. It didn't occur to me the email issue was related to the tablet because I was mostly still using my laptop to monitor emails. I contacted Norton, CenturyLink and was even told to contact Microsoft about Internet Explorer problems, with no successful resolution. These people are just plain incompetent. They should be aware of this issue if it has been going on since 2010. I just uninstalled my centurytel email from my tablet. I think the responsibility resides with CenturyLink and Samsung to fix this and at least be able to tell me that CenturyLink email is incompatible with a Samsung tablet. (or that any non-gmail account is incompatible). Unfortunately the lost emails are important emails from real people, not the junk email from on-line merchants. I am not pleased with these money-grubbing companies who promise marvelous ways that their products improve our lives, but refuse to address customer problems.

Here's what you do for those Samsung tablets with DISAPPEARING Emails. This took me several days to figure out on the disappearing Emails (on tablet, but still visibile on my laptop). Go to EMAIL, then up by the red box in upper left hand corner where it shows your E addy click on MORE, then click on SETTINGS, then you'll see a list of email addresses you have entered on your Samsung tablet. Hold your finger on the Email addy until the whole rectangle box gets highlighted (shaded). At this point a whole new page opens up and you can scroll down to Sync settings. Under this you'll see Period to sync Email.
Touch Period to sync Email. Then choose all -- voila, problem of disappearing emails solved. Do this for each Email account you have. My tablet had been set to hold only 3 days of mail (on each Email address) and none of my previous Es from weeks ago were showing up til I did this. I'm new to tablets but something I'm learning is to touch a subject or command and hold my finger on it for a few seconds and new menus and options pop up.

BTW, i too thought this was an Android and Gmail complication, as i use Hotmail and Yahoo a lot. Very disappointed when i was reading everyone's frustrations. Believe me i was a bit pissed when my Emails kept disappearing. I did realize a day ago that i could just go to internet or chrome icon on tablet and google hotmail sign in. But I'm SO happy I got this to sync and work properly from the email icon
