So with the latest N update, the bár with home, recents and back keys pops up and out of sight at will.
It's a curse of a thing when you're in an app or game and touch the bottom to go back one step, the ruddy thing disappears and you tap on some function key in the app instead...
Anyone else have issues with this latest "improvement" Nougat had dished up?
Sounds great in theory, but....

I haven't had any troubles so far, but have not been in a game yet. I read something that said, even if the button wasn't visible, it was still active and could be 'pushed'. Sounds like that's not what you're seeing though.

You have to swipe it up once it goes away. Especially annoying with video watching and getting out of messages...

I just discovered you can turn that off and have the navigation bar permanently on screen (it's an ugly pale colour)... Sigh!

Hi. I just figured it out. When the home button bar at the bottom is up, to the very far left is a dot. Push on the dot and it will keep your bar up and your three major functions visible.

Perfect, thanks very much as this was slowly ticking me off and I was hoping we could turn it off

You can also set it so that the dot doesn't come up, if you don't want the nav bar to EVER be hidden.

In Settings>, Display>, Navigation Bar> there is the option for "Show and Hide Button." If that is off, then you will never have the dot to activate "hidden.""

The hiding soft keys is driving me crazy when I'm trying to text several people.
I have to constantly swipe up to get them
The "pin" button which is supposed to prevent them from hiding doesn't work.

It should be my choice to show or hide these buttons.

Yes, I'm having a similar problem, just within the past week. When I leave the home screen the status bar disappears. When I swipe up, it appears, but even though I touch the show and hide button, it still disappears within a few seconds. My show and hide button worked fine up until then.

From the bottom of your screen flip it up.
Just like you have to do on the old windows 7
You will flip up a menu bar.
On the left there is a dot.
Touch the dot and it will lock the menu bar to stay up.
You can go back or make it go to your home screen
When you are threw.
Touch the dot on the left and the screen will disappear again.

That is my problem; when I touch the dot, my menu bar does not stay up. However, when I go back to my home screen, then it will stay. However, when I am anywhere but my home screen, the menu bar does not stay, even when I touch the show and hide dot!

You have to double tap it now. This is a feature that is supposed to keep you from inadvertently changing the settings.

How hard is it to take yer finger and flip it back up again.

Mine don't stay up in every mode.
At least I know where it is.

If it bothered me. I would go to the Verizon store of Best Buy and ask about it.

Very hard! Google Pay comes up. Or you tap on messenger. Many problems with it 'not' being there. Fixed! Yeah

So i just had the new update and the home buttons were disappearing on in facebook. To change that go to settings/display/home touch buttons/hide home touch buttons. Then just check to see if ant apps were hiding them.
