Disappearing ringtones?

Not sure if this is specific to my phone, or just a general Android thing, but anyway... I like to make my own ringtones. I made a folder on my phone's microSD card, just called "Ringtones", and dragged all the ones I made into it. They all showed up just fine when I browsed through my phone's ringtones to set one.

Today, I got a call, but my phone played some generic little ringtone, and I was confused. I went to my ringtone settings, and it was set to one of the default ringtones. I scrolled down the list, and the one I made that I had set was no longer on the list. A handful of other ones were missing, too, but most were intact.

When I open Astro File Manager, and navigate to that ringtones folder I made on the card, they're all still on there. So why did they suddenly disappear from my ringtone list on my phone?

I've had exactly the same experience. I used both Ringdroid and MP3 Ringtone apps to make ringtones out of MP3s, apply them to contacts only to have the default ringtone be active on the contact when they would call me. I would do the same process 2 or 3 times then finally it seems to be working properly now. I can't explain what I did to make it work.I would browse the ringtone folder and see my tones were there but if I tried to change the ringtone for a contact none of them would be there in the list. I would go off do something else then come back later and they were there. I can't explain it but that was my experience, too. For the past 3 or 4 weeks the ringtones have been working fine.

Try rebooting the phone. Sometimes they won't be found until the SD Card prepares itself to recognize the new files added to it. You can also try RingDroid and use MP3's.

Yeah, I haven't actually used any Android apps to make the ringtones, or anything, I just used an MP3 editor on my computer to clip the tracks down into the ringtones, then transferred them to my phone. I'll see if they return when I turn my phone on later today when I go to work. It just seems odd that only certain ones would disappear, while the rest are still there, just fine.

The specific ringtones that had disappeared didn't reappear when I turned my phone on today, and I even tried restarting my phone, and they still don't appear. They're still in my Ringtones folder, though, but they won't show up anymore in my ringtones settings. :/

Mine does the same thing. I thought it straightened out then today the same thing.
