disappearing slide menu

The slide menu on my note 3 keeps disappearing. I'm new to samsung phones, upgraded from HTC one x so I'm still learning. How do I get this menu back?

Check to see if multi window is toggled off in the status bar. If that's not it then you're holding the back button down too long on the home screen. You can make the slide appear and disappear by holding the back button down.
