Disappointed With Gear S2

I was super excited to get my gear s2. I've literally had almost 4 months to get excited for it (verizon s7 promo). Now that I have it, I'm kinda disappointed. All my problems may not be the watches fault, it may be user error. So I'm hoping I can get some help.

1. I'm disappointed at the call forwarding feature. If I have my phone and my watch on me and they are connected via Bluetooth, they both ring at the same time. However, if I am separated from my phone and have call forwarding enabled, my phone has to ring numerous times before my watch ever gets the first ring. I would like for them both to ring at the same time. I wish verizon had a feature like AT&T numbersync.

2. This may be related to problem 1. If I miss a call on my phone and it forwards to my watch, but I'm still not able to answer, I don't get any voicemails. I'm assuming the watch has its own voicemail? I want my phone voicemail to pick up like it normally would.

3. I see lots of people saying that you can change the outgoing phone number to use your normal phone number. I only see this option if I am connected to my phone via Bluetooth. If I am not connected Bluetooth, the option is grayed out.

4. I hate the fact that Samsung forces you to use their messaging app. I use Google messenger as my default text app. Every time I open messages on my watch, I get the message that I need to change my default app. I've found that if I just close that message, I can still send messages with Google messenger as my default. However, I can't see any incoming messages. I only see what I've sent out. I still get notifications and can read the messages when they first come in, which doesn't make sense to me. If I can read them in notifications, why are they not there when I open the messages app?

It seems like there is something else I am forgetting. If I remember, I will post it as well. Any help solving these problems would greatly be appreciated.

I hope I can add some clarification here.

1. I have the Gear S2 on AT&T. Number Sync is a REALLY cool concept, but since I am running on a Note Edge, I cannot number sync to that device. The only device it allows me to select is my wife's S7 Edge. I am waiting for the Note 6. The call forwarding may be a carrier issue since I cannot replicate this on my AT&T combo. When in call forwarding mode, my handset does not ring and the call goes directly to my Gear.

2. Again, this may be a carrier/config issue as when I am connected via BT to my phone, they both ring at the same time and if I miss the call, it goes to VM, does not ring my Gear separately. Mainly because the Gear radios are all disabled when connected via BT.

3. This is normal and functioning as designed. You can only use the outgoing number of the device connected to the network (Gear number if not connected to device via BT and when connected, device number).

4. I can't speak to this as I use the default messaging app. I can send/receive text messages, so never thought about changing apps. :)

Ok, I guess 3 out of 4 isn't terrible. I hope others jump in here and help!

My phone has to ring several times. If I leave my phone behind and use know my watch, I don't have confidence that I will get all of my calls because most people will probably hang up before the call makes it to my watch.

I am referring to when my phone and watch are not connected via Bluetooth.

I have read others post who say they have success in using the phone's number, even when disconnected.

In respect to 4. I also use Google messenger and have never gotten any messages about changing the default app, in fact it has worked flawlessly for me when sending or receiving.

I have been thinking about enrolling my Gear S2 with Verizon but am concerned that once enabled it becomes a separate device if not paired with the phone. My understanding so far is that if the watch is connected to Verizon, not paired with the phone, and someone wanted to text or call me they would need to know the phone number of the watch or use the call forwarding which apparently doesn't work too well. Does call forwarding also forward texts? It could be a technical limitation, but it seems to me that when on Verizon (or AT&T) the watch should be a companion device for the phone and if someone sends a text or calls my phone I should receive the same on the watch regardless if I am paired to the phone or not.

I guess that is a better way of describing all of my problems with the watch. I want a device that is a companion to my phone when paired and acts as my phone when not paired, rather than feeling like I have two completely separate devices. I feel like if verizon had a number sync app like AT&T then most of my problems would be solved.

I have verizon when i have call forwarding on i get text messages and it does take a long time and a lot of rings before watch rings. You also cant leave a voice message

Why can I not get calls on my gear watch when connected remotely? I tested it today when I went to town with my watch, but left my phone at home. I got all of my notifications, including texts. Even replied to a text with no issues. But I didn't get any calls. I enabled call forwarding and tried again, this time I got the call, but only after numerous unanswered rings on my phone. I was hoping since it was connected (even remotely), I would still get calls sent to my watch simultaneously.

You can get emails, SMS, and MMS via "remote connection" when using the Samsung Email and Messaging apps on the phone. It doesn't work that way for calls; you have to use call forwarding for that. However, you can get a missed call notification via remote connection, and call or text the person back from the watch. That's how I deal with it; it's not great, but I want my phone voicemail to pick up messages, not my watch voicemail, so I don't turn forwarding on.

That really stinks. I thought for sure since I could get all my notifications and send texts, I would surely be able to get calls. Why can't verizon have a number sync?!

On my S1 I open the messaging app, press cancel at the pop up, initiate the text, it goes through fine using my phones number. Replies come via a notification from Textra, my default text app where I can reply to the reply.
I can't help with the others as I'm on AT&T .
