Discussion on the appeal of iOS vs Android

Re: You can never impress or please others with your phone?

I came over from a WP bought the 6plus edge this past fall. my wife and daughter use the iPhone. it's ok but the one thing that I really like about the iPhone is they get updated without the bull****. that to me is a major plus I'll see what the new note looks like and the new iPhone this fall. Android updates are crap though I do understand the carrier thing. but hey apple can do it. so should Androids.

Like some others have said, I too am a transplant from Windows Phone. I decided to go with Android over iOS because of a few hardware features my Lumia 735 had that I came to rely upon that were not offered by Apple devices (wireless charging and expandable memory). To me Apple seems to be focused on making high end, pretty devices while Android manufacturers put more emphasis on features.

Funny that I have 2 people above me who mentioned that they came from Windows Phone, me too (or should I say me three)!

As said by many others, both have appeal and issues, just a matter of how much you are willing to deal with them. Considering that I came from WP, it's worth mentioning that I like that iOS and Windows Phone/Mobile have internal similarities, and that is probably why I lean that way. The way that the battery is optimized in iOS (as least for my SE), it reminds me of how great battery life has been with my Windows Phone experience.

Android is not "hard to use", but iOS requires less steps to do things. At least with how I use my phone anyway. As a casual user, I hate having to charge my phone daily out of normal usage. A day and some is what I'm used to. I haven't seen that with any of the Androids I have tried. I know that it exists, but unfortunately, that has been hard to find in my size preference for phones.

On iOS, I also like how it easy it is to use alternative services for Mail and iCloud. It's easy to change for uploads but not as easy for email on Android. Anyway, I like the customization that Android offers a lot, and that is why I still try Android phones.

To go from having some customization (WP) to barely any (iOS) is a shock and a challenge. With WP and Android, you and 5 other people can have phones from the same system but they can look different and/or unique on the outside and inside! I really like that. I'll love to have a phone that is nice looking to me, unique to an extent, battery life that works for me, and decent cameras. At least those are my hopes and desires. With iOS, your case is pretty much what you got.
