Anyone thinking of getting the GW8?

I ordered the GW8 Classic in silver/black although I'm not thrilled about the smaller display size compared to GW6 Classic
I ordered the so called black GW8 Classic. It's actually silver with a black band. I decided not to get the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025 because there was no difference except for it having more storage. So I will be stuck with my Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra at least until next year. They didn't let us use it for a trade in this year.

Can't answer all of your questions but I can tell you that, with the pre-order, for once my $50 preorder credit was actually automatically applied to the shopping cart.

Then Samsung gave me $250 for my GW6 Classic.

My total cost for the silver/black GW8 Classic was $200 plus tax which made it $235.57
I made a similar deal and after points and tax, it came to $210.40

I coudln't get $50 reserve credit to apply to a watch at all, phones only and even THEN it was just a credit to buy more stuff (similar to last year).. but trading in a Watch 7 for $200 credit, came to $179 shipped to OR.. I’m ok with that math - looks like a solid feature wise upgrade to even just last years W7

Oh really you can't trade in the Ultra wonder why? My husband has the 6 classic I told him to let me know if he wants to upgrade 250 trade in but he doesn't care that much. I finally got mine to work with my $50 it's my fault I didn't RSVP from my work email I put in my old Samsung gmail account I had forever before my work discount became available but it was just $6 and Rakuten was still 3% and this website Samsung Guru I filled out a form with my receipt it says I'll get some mystery box by using there link. I just got the graphite 40mm with a black fabric band for now. I have 3 other fabric bands and a sport one from the 7. The sport ones sometimes irritate my skin. But yeah for me not much difference just the squircle but I wanted the latest. I use these full bumber covers hope they make some good ones on Amazon.

I just did a chat with Samsung since I put in the wrong email my husband uses for his Samsung account and he said create a new account under that email if he decides to get one. He would get just the 8 classic and trade in his 6 classic which is $250.

Thank you for posting this. After I saw this I was wondering why my price was $288. I went back and noticed they didn't add the $50 reserve discount to my order. I canceled my order and then reordered. My price afterwards was $236. I saved $52.

According to this article, Samsung is allowing trade-in of the 2024 Watch Ultra but it's only $250, the same as the GW6 Classic. Nevermind the money aspect, this means they didn't have the website updated with this option until well after people placed pre-orders.

If this is true, Samsung really needs to get it together and have their website ready for the morning of the Galaxy Unpacked event. Every year, I get on early and order only to see different options made available AFTER the fact, like different color bands. I didn't see any options for different colors of the hybrid bands until later that day.

Leaks are showing the GW8 Classic in silver with black inner bezel (outer is also silver) or silver and white combo, which looks nice but just not my style. Personally, I would like to have seen an all black version like they've done for so many years but doesn't look like that's going to be an option this year.

Otherwise, the Ultra seems almost unchanged, other than new color variant - blue (also not my style). The standard GW8 has the new Squircle design (Classic has also but not as pronounced) and honestly I think it's the best looking one in the bunch.

Seems like there is nowhere near the usual excitement and buzz regarding the GW8 series compared to usual. Wondering if it's going to flop.
I pre-ordered the GW8 classic, but I'm wondering if I should just stick with my GW6 classic for now? I'm wondering if it's worth the upgrade

Go to a Best Buy or whichever cellular store your service is with to see in person. They should have the display units out. I held one and it's premium build, for sure. I didn't really notice the display being much smaller because of the metal case and bezel making the whole device look big.

But it's a complete 180° from the GW6 Classic. The GW6 Classic is very minimalistic and I do like it but also really enjoy the look of a lwatch that can dress up or down with clothing. I have the GW 7 Ultra so I already have something for outdoors and casual style.

Anyone know if you trade in your watch if you need an original Samsung watch band to send in for the trade? I would like to keep my Watch 6 Classic band.

Are you planning to get an adapter to use it?

I think you're good but I don't recall where I've seen the description of what's required. I think it's on the small checklist for when you send your trade.

I have more than one Watch 6 Classic. I was planning on trading in two of them, one for the Watch 8 Classic and one for the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025. But since the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025 is the same as last year's watch, no need for me to trade it in. That leaves me an extra Watch 6 Classic.

Every time I've traded in a watch they just want the watch you can keep your band. But they specifically told me my 7 bands would work they didn't mention anything about an adapter. I may cancel now. I'm calling them tomorrow.

The adapters are cheap and I think you can even get them on Amazon now (initially just Temu and eBay but with huge wait times).

But yeah, I don't blame anyone for not wanting to fool with them. I've thoroughly enjoyed the difference in the ease of changing bands on the 7 Ultra and I think you'll see with the 8 you ordered.

But think of it this way, Samsung isn't going to go back to that design so at some point the bands you've accumulated are going to keep you stuck with GW 7 or older tech.

Thanks! I just remember my 7 bands have some metal click thing and they were easier for me to get on and off. And last year I had an issue and had to send back a defective watch and ended up with an extra band. I have 3 fabric and this regular cream band I liked. Usually the sports one irritate my skin. I wanted the black hybrid my husband got but it only came in med/lg. But yes I don't want to fool with adapters. I got the graphite watch so I did the graphite fabric but would love one more in a different color and to try one sports band. I did read aftermarket bands will be available at some point.

Is this one of the newer bands for the 8 cause if so I do see some cheap ones on Amazon. This says 6 pack for $18.99 which seems weird but it says one click no gap makes think it's the old style. I can't tell.

Edit: Never mind I just saw where it says for the 8 and classic not the Ultra and I saw the other side of it and I think it's the old style or it wouldn't say not for Ultra. They shouldn't advertise for the 8 if it's not the right one.

if you're interested in the health metrics, then the 8 is the way to go. more sensors and monitoring starting with the 7 series.
