Display in sunlight

I'm thinking about buying a moto e, read like every review and if you consider the low price it's a real good device.

But if you see the display in sunlight, as you can see on engadget.com, I might go for the moto g lte (1st gen).

What are your realtime experiences with the display in bright sunlight, is it really that bad or still usable?
