Hello,

I need some help people. What is the best way to mirror the screen onto a laptop for Android. I just found out that due to the HDCP this is not allowed for Android. I also read the developer has the right turn this on or off? Can anyone confirm that?

I tried Samsung SideSync and when i installed it on a macbook air, it wouldnt work via USB with a S7. It keeps wanting me to connect via WIFI but i need this option to work via USB.

I work for a company and when we do presentations, we need to sometimes show our apps and for people that are not in the same location, we display it over Webex and i can't seem to find a good solution for Android. The company purchased a product from Elgato but it wont work with Android due to the HDCP restriction.

I am wondering if purchasing a windows laptop that had HDCP would fix this issue?

Any and all information is helpful.

thanks in advance.

Haven't used it on Macs, but SideSync works perfectly for me over both USB and WiFi, even with another Samsung tablet. But if that's not working for you, you can try VNC apps or apps like Vysor, which claim to be able to do just that. Just bear in mind that, most of the time, these won't be fast enough for 'action-centric' apps, so showing off games might not be ideal as there would be significant lag between input and the visual response on the screen. I know you said you wanted USB, but if you can rely on WiFi too, you can try Airserver on your Mac, which allows you to receive Miracast/Google Cast/Air Play information directly on your computer (screen sharing, for instance).

oh it wont be used on macs, i just had one handy. I work for a financial institution and it's to show off our mobile apps so no games or anything. We all use windows but as im sure you know, work computers are restricted so i can't install it on a work computer. The other problem is this is made by samsung. Does it work with other androids or just samsung devices?

We are trying to have one solution for both IOS and Android.

The reason i am strict on the USB is because we are not always going to have a wifi connection or a reliable one so with USB, we dont have to worry about that stuff.

Finally, anyone know if the problem is solved with a laptop that has HDCP ?

I suggest a little reading and understanding of what HDCP actually IS. HDCP is essentially a video transport protocol that ensures end-to-end encryption of the video signal, to prevent interception for the purposes of piracy.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-bandwidth_Digital_Content_Protection

Not having support for HDCP shouldn't preclude you from doing what you want to do, especially since you're talking about connecting your phone to the PC using wireless or USB (I don't believe either of those is supported by HDCP).

What if you were to join the Webex from the device and when you need to present the app choose that as a presenter to then share the screen? According to the description of the Webex app, it's possible to share the screen from the device.

thanks for the second half of what you mentioned.

For the first half, knowing what HDCP is for the most part irrelevant. i have researched this and found that this is the reason it does not work. If you care to learn more, feel free to read the link below which clearly confrms that it is not possible.
