Dissapointed by the battery life!

I'm a power user and I love the battery usage I get out of my phone. If you don't have a bad app draining your battery and you don't have a faulty battery maybe you should get the droid turbo or the Sony experia z3

Lol.. According to droid turbo users they're unhappy with their battery life...

I'm very happy with my nexus 6 battery life. I'm on pace for 6 hours of screen on time with this charge. I can't complain with that.

Since going back to stock, my battery life has been incredible. Who knew? I guess that Google's Android developers know more about optimizing my N6 battery life than some guy that "tinkers" in it at XDA. :D

I usually get 3.5-4.5 hours SoT and charge at the end of the day with ~30% battery left. Honestly I don't have time to use it more than that, but battery life seems pretty darned good to me.

The N6 also beat the iP6+ on battery rundowns over at Phone Arena, so I don't see much evidence that the 6+ is some beast with battery life (though it looks respectable as well).

Wait a second, how are you some of you guys getting such good time with your phones even with what seems like heavy use? I kid you not, it hasn't been 6 hours yet since I unplugged it this morning and my phone is at 36% already, and I've barely used it for normal things, let alone heavy stuff....

I'm working today so usage has been light and all LTE. I can't complain with this though. Took it off the charger at 7am. uploadfromtaptalk1430774246914.jpguploadfromtaptalk1430774253345.jpg

To get great results with battery life, as rule of thumb make sure your location services are in battery saving mode. Avoid using gps if not really necessary, also if not a priority don't use Google Now cards. Turn off Bluetooth if you are not going to use it. If you left a wifi area turn off wifi. This always worked for me. Perhaps other more expert users may suggest more tips on this.

The numbers I got in the screen shots above are without turning anything off. I really don't need it to be any better than it is so I just leave everything on. I do turn off gmail sync though because I don't want to be notified all day about emails. That saves quite a bit of battery as well.

The battery is fine unless a play game. It drainage really fast when I play game. But that is expected.

I don't turn anything off either, though I do turn down screen brightness when it's dark indoors - not so much to save battery as my eyes. I'm sure I could eke out more battery life, but once it easily makes it through a day that's all I really ask of a phone.

Have you checked to see which apps are using the most battery? I know that Facebook and Facebook Messenger can really be atrocious to batteries sometimes (I don't have either on my phone anymore), but sometimes a random app can do it also. You really should be seeing better battery life than you are.

My wife has the Z3c and at end of day she has 30% and I'm at about 10%. Our screen on time is similar.

That I don't doubt - the Z3c has a 2600 mAH battery crammed into a phone with a 720p 4.6" screen - it should be a battery life champ.

I get 5 to 6 hours of use if I wanted to... but I really never use the phone that long. My typical day sees about 4 hours. I only need to charge once a day (but usually top it off when i have the chance). If I don't touch the thing much, I'd get close to two days bettween charges.

I mean, right now, my last charge was lunchtime yesterday and I'm sitting at 48%. Granted, its only 1 1/2 hours of SOT during that time (hadn't used it much in the last day), but that's pretty good idling.

And I'm not fussing with anything. Location services are left on (At high accuracy no less). Most everything is left as is other than going through and making sure no one is abusing my GPS.

I have a phone that I only need to charge once a day and I get as much usage out of it as I need... no complaints.

I think that battery life expectations are increasingly becoming unreasonable. People seem to want their phone batteries to last for days. This is not and may never be the case with moderate to heavy use, especially as new technology continues to outpace the capacity of batteries. Playing 4K video, doing all of your web browsing on your phone, and playing processor intensive games on your phone...all the while doing the same things you're used to (productivity, phone, email, Instagram, FB, and the like) will never get you throughout the day.

However, I like the N6 because of what it does to accommodate convenience in charging. Quick charging has actually been the greatest feature ever. Thirty minutes is all it takes to get a reasonable charge with this phone. I can't tell you how many times this was a lifesaver in the airport, or on trips, or on busy days. And second, wireless charging out the box means I can maintain good battery health overnight. I had a GS3 before this and my phone would always charge in 3 hours and still be charging when I woke up. I have heard repeatedly how overcharging your phone is bad for your battery's long-term health. Wireless charging is slow charging and my wireless charger essentially shuts off when the phone reaches 100%. I also bought an external battery for those long days when you just know your phone isn't going to make it.

I think all three of those things make this phone's battery life incredible given its screen size and multitasking capabilities. I still am surprised when I turn on my phone and realize I have 30 apps and browser windows open and I'm still doing things without any lag or stuttering. So I definitely would not call battery life disappointing.

Yeah... that is something that I think gets lost these days.... People forget how much our demands on these devices has jumped in the past few years. Think back to 2012. We weren't demanding super high definition video playback or network speeds that now often outpace the wired internet people have in their homes... games were simple, apps simple... Now people are playing sophisticated augemented reality 3-D games and doing some fairly complex graphic and video editing.... like it ain't no thang.

What we demand from these phones has increased several orders of magnitude in a short amount of time and, unfortunately, battery technology hasn't done squat. The battery technology we have in our phones today are really no different than the ones we had three years ago... yet we are asking them to do so much more.

Totally agree built in wireless charging and included quick charger make the nexus 6 the easiest phone I have ever owned to keep juiced up all day. Just had long day with phone 3 flights watched 2 movies listened to music and used my phone to surf Internet had screen on time of about 10 hours. Keep going all day with 2 20 minute or so top offs with quick charger. While I wish my battery on most of the phones I have owned would be bigger. At least Motorola gave us all the charging tools for this one.

I was really disappointed the first day I used my phone, but after a fill, full drain, and fill again, I get battery life on par with most flagships now. The battery life isn't bad for the size and power of this phone IMO
