DNA Firmware Update?

Hey all, first post in the DNA forum. My wife and I (finally) did our upgrade from moto droid x and both got the DNA in March. We both have been having the SIM issue non-stop (at least once a day) for the last two weeks. When I read that this update was coming, I was relieved that they were going to solve it. But now, it is doing the SIM card thing CONSTANTLY, even in the middle of calls (!), at least 10 times a day. I am beyond frustrated b/c this is a very busy week for me, lots of calls to make/receive etc- the one I don't have time for is to sit on the phone with support for an hour. I'm very disappointed in the build quality of this phone, as I am now convinced that it is a hw issue and not fw. Anyway, just wanted to add my 2 cents, I can vouch that for our two phones, the problem has gotten worse since the ota update.

Wow, and I thought it was bad. Have you tried removing the SIM card and using rubbing alcohol on the contacts? That helped out a lot when I was having the issue constantly. Also, I'm sure they'l replace your phones, but then you'll probably have refurbs :/

You may want to try a factory reset. Sometimes this is necessary to make sure the update installs correctly.

My wifes DNA had it a few times then I put some scotch tape on the Sim and reinstalled it. No issues yet.... Have not rec'd ota fix yet. My DNA has not had any issues yet. (Fingers X'd).

I didn't have the SIM card issue until after the last update. Hope this one fixes it.

Sorry, I was busy all day yesterday. I have removed and replaced it after "blowing it out", but I'll try that as well. Thanks!

Yeah, I've been really trying to avoid that.. but I guess if it persists, I'll bite the bullet. I'm going to try the rubbing alcohol thing first. But geez, you'd think that a $700 retail piece of tech could hold it together for the first couple of months of operation!

A Factory Reset should never be necessary for updating your firmware. If it is, there are other bigger problems.

I was browsing through phone today after taking the update and noticed something I haven't before in apps . . . A google settings app that is a green square like google search (blue) and google + (red). Is that new, or was it there before update but I just did not see it? Just curious? On topic, after update, sim card took forever to prepare, but all good since then (so far)!

It was there before. I have them disabled so they don't appear in my app drawer.

I'm surprised I haven't seen anything definitive yet, nobody is jumping up and down saying the sim card issue is fixed. . . are some of you still having issues? I've been holding off on buying to see how this turns out.

I received my first sim card error 2 days prior to the update. I have had the phone for 4 months with no problems, and had that first error message. I was excited about the update until i got my 2nd sim card error 5 days after the supposed fix. Needless to say i dont think the fix is working as intended. I wish there would be some sort of audible notification that the sim card had an error. It sits there in my holster dead as a doorknob until i actually pull it out to make a call and have to reboot the phone. Wonder how many calls i have missed because of it.

This is a really good idea. This happens to me a lot.

I updated on Wednesday, and I haven't had the SIM issue since, but I'm still waiting because I don't get it more than once or twice every couple weeks.

I have the update, and, I just had a SIM card issue error. After the update, it seemed better, but, I don't think it totally fixed the problem

Started having sim issues after this update, garbage. Rooted, s-off, stock rooted.

SIM card error three times today since update. Already did rubbing alcohal and scotch tape tricks. Previously did a hard reset as well. Seems this update did nothing.

Very sad
