DNA vs. Razr Maxx HD

I think you will be happy with the DNA.. I refuse to upgrade at a Verizon location due to there crappy return policy.. so I got my DNA off bby.com as they don't sell the DNA in stores yet.. so if you don't mind waiting a couple days for shipping try bby.com and if you don't like it you can exchange the DNA in store for a razr hd which they do carry in the store.. that way you have a longer return period and no restocking fee.. and although it may have been a glitch when I upgraded my unlimited data did not change..
Just a thought.

Mine unlimited data didnt change either. Kinda weird

Got my DNA yesterday. Been on 14.5 hours. Recorded video today for 25 minutes. Took dozens of photos, played with it for most of the day. The radio is awsome. My bionic would burn through it's over sized battery due to lack of signal. On the 26th floor in the center of a steel building surrounded by steel buildings, I was getting 4G with 3 bars. The bionic would be no bars. This phone is great.

Ok -- after obsessing over the Droid DNA and now having switched to the Razr HD I thought I'd provide others who may be torn the benefit of my observations and experiences with these phones. I LOVED the DNA. The pros were: the big, absolutely stunning screen, the camera (great), speed, the fact that webpages were resized when I scrolled to fit the phone, and the fact that my albums synced to Facebook and other online albums that I could retrieve from the gallery. That said, here was the con: I had TERRIBLE reception on the bluetooth in my car such that it was virtually unusable and even off of the bluetooth many calls sounded muffled and people complained that they could not hear me. :( It was not my bluetooth as I used it for 2+ years with my Droid X and had crystal clear calls. I even took the DNA back on Day 14 and exchanged it for a second one in the hope that the phone was defective -- same result both on and off the bluetooth (with bluetooth calls being considerably worse).

After much angst and even considering not using the bluetooth at all I took the second DNA back to Verizon and a very nice manager graciously allowed me to exchange it for the Razr HD even though I was outside of the 14 day return period. I chose the Razr HD over the Maxx HD because the battery was bigger than that in the DNA and for the most part the DNA battery was working fine for me. Now that I'm getting acquainted with my Razr HD I'm finding that the pros are: the notifications light (it's big and retro but I love it because I can change the colors on notifications for texts, corporate email v. gmail, etc. -- I forgot to mention that I personally did not care for the tiny notification light on the DNA and the one on the back of the DNA really didn't help me because I never have my phone turned face down). The best pro is that the call quality is great on the Razr HD -- calls are crisp and clear and notification sounds are much louder to me than they were on the DNA. Battery life on the Razr HD is AWESOME. I primarily chose not to get the Maxx because I thought the regular HD battery would work fine for me and it has indeed. Love that I don't have to worry about charging it at work or going somewhere after work and running out of juice. The cons - of course the screen is not the DNA screen which imho is unmatched. I was pretty bummed about the screen initially until I discovered that it was on automatic brightness and changed that to allow it to be brighter manually -- the screen looks HD now and is bright and clear. It's not the DNA screen but I'm very pleased with it and can now play the games that were not supported on the DNA because of it's high resolution (so as I type this maybe the screen is really not a con at all). The major con is the camera quality as many have commented on already. In light the camera is okay but in low light it is pretty abysmal. I really do miss the snappiness of the DNA camera and the quality of the pics but for me being able to hear someone on the other end outweighs my need for a camera.

So there you have it, the Razr HD is it for me. Good luck with whatever you choose!

I have neither but I thought id chime in.. I have the note 2 with a ginormous battery and its nice to be able to go a day and a half to two days without charging. Im in san diego for vacation and using navigation and being on it alot more since im not at work. Never needing to search for a outlet is soooo nice.

Thanks for chiming in, but nobody asked about the Note 2. Most people charge their phones every night and the DNA easily lasts all day, so a phone that can last more than a day isn't a big selling point. But enjoy your ridiculously oversized phablet.

which phone do you guys think will last longer in terms of usefulness? DNA is awesome (seen it twice now...) and i might get it over maxx hd...

What is "bby.com" that you are referring to?
Thanks.

If you have an hhgregg store near you, you can pick up the DNA for a buck. They don't have it in stores yet, but I ordered mine on Thursday. It is listed for 149 on their website, so go into the store.

I can't wait to retire the ol tbolt.
