Do All Phones Turn To Crap After A Year?

Phones can last for years, depending on how they are used; if they suffer hardware damage; what the user puts on the device that may stress the battery; etc. My mom had her Samsung Galaxy S4 for probably three or four years - she only installed minimal apps, took care of it, and got it brand new at the time. I think it really depends on the user and also on the phone's individual setup (ie, how the parts age).

Nope. My Old Galaxy S2 is still going, same with my S4 and Note 4.

Take care of them, and they take care of you.

All phones don't turn to crap after a year, but some certainly have a useful life that's longer than others. My Vibrant (T-Mobile Galaxy S) was crappy pretty much from the beginning. I got two solid years out of the Nexus S, and almost three out of the Nexus 4. My luck ran out with the Nexus 6P; I got hit hard with the battery hardware fault after about eighteen months and I've been limping along with it ever since. Going to try the 2 XL next.

My recommendation is either buy this or last year's iPhone, or do your homework and get an Android phone with good, modern hardware and either a promise of 2+ years of updates or support from reputable third-party firmware that stays current on updates to maximize your odds.

Also, I just noticed that this thread got gravedug from 2013 but whatever I still say it's good advice, if belated.
