Who is potentially upgrading to the S25 Ultra?

I entered my preorder reservation last night for all of my email addresses. We'll be getting our orders in before ya know it!!!

Last year I took the day off for Unpacked and I'm considering doin the same this year. I cant be in my office fussing about the site crashing when I'm trying to get my preorder on. Yes, it's that serious

I don't plan to upgrade. I went from a screen-shattered S20 FE to the S24+ last year. So keeping phones for several years works for me.

However, we might upgrade my youngest son's phone, which is my old S9 - the one I used before the S20 FE.

I used the pre-order period at AT&T to take advantage of their "any year, any condition" sales promo to trade in that S20 FE and get the S24+ with a bump to 512GB for free.

Well, you still pay the tax on the full price up front, and pay the first 3 months regular payments until the trade-in is accepted. But my installments on the phone has been $0 since May.

We might do that again when AT&T opens up the pre-order period for the S25 using the S9 as the trade-in. My son really doesn't want a phone bigger than the S9 he has now. The regular S25, if it really is about the same size as the regular S24, is barely different from the S9 in physical dimensions. Depending on whatever case we get for it - and he's gonna need a case.

As we say here in the UK, I'm on the case to purchase it. Had a few buyer regret orders before but, I'm in for this model.

I was a positive no; however, if they offer the satellite SOS feature; finally, I might just jump and get it. It's only money....

I was planning to get s25 Ultra, but after I heard they are going to remove the Bluetooth features from the S-Pen, I didn't see a reason for me to get the phone. I am currently using the s24 Ultra and still have the s23 Ultra too. There is not much difference in the two phones. I don't see much difference between the s24 and the s25.

Do we know if pre-orders are open DURING the Unpacked event? Or only after Unpacked is done?

Previously, we were able to pre-order during the Unpacked event.

How would you envision making use of that feature?
I can't speak for Trail Boss; I would be able to cancel my Garmin InReach service that would save me $ each month. I love the outdoors and spend time backpacking, kayaking, and snowmobiling in locations with no cell service. The only thing I would be missing is the ability to get weather updates or send messages to family.

I have an S23 Ultra, and I actually made 2 checklists, each with reasons TO or NOT TO upgrade to the S25 Ultra (in a hope that I can talk myself out of it.) In case anyone is in the same boat, here are the lists:

NOT TO upgrade:
  • Anti-reflective coating issues not resolved?
  • Wait for better face unlock
  • Wait for better 10x+ zoom performance
  • Wait for brighter AOD at max settings
  • Wait for fix for sudden motion blur in pictures
  • Invest in mutual fund instead
TO upgrade:
  • Dual active eSIMs is possible
  • PWM makes for easier viewing?
  • Flat screen = easier, cheaper screen protectors
  • Better case selection
  • Less minimum focus distance + 4x sharper macro shots
  • Better low-light video
  • Brighter outdoors
  • Fresh battery
  • Potentially built-in Qi2 magnets

I signed up for the pre order things to get my name on the list. But I really have not found a reason to be excited about the S25 series.
Im excited just because it's a new phone. There aren't any new features I'm looking forward to. I've committed to using AI to a higher degree, though.

The possible loss of BT in the SPen has really dampened my spirits. I mean, I could get a colored skin and a new clear case and probably not feel like I'm missing anything.
