No doubt it can be gotten cheaper. My position is a phone goes into an otterbox when it comes out of it's shipping box. Plus I get the military discount at vzw so it's a little less painfull... And I have the peace of mind of knowing I can protect the device if I luck out and it actually arrives earlier than expected.
Do any of the stores have the Defender in the store yet?

I had a uag on my s8 plus. Somehow managed to drop it perfectly face down on pavement and cracked the screen bad. Not quite enough buffer on the front.

I'd get a zagg tempered glass to go with it. The zagg ones hold better bc the tiny bit of adhesive along the edges.

I got a Caseology Legion case off Amazon which is a really nice and protective case but I want somethign cheaper. I got it just to hold me off until I get Otterbox or Supcase or i_Blason.
Tmobile near me has the Symmetry case but that's less protection than the Legion and $$.
I'm thinking about trying UAG. How are their cases protection wise? Is it as good as the Defender or Supcase?
I might check walmart. They carry cases too now. Funny about 7 months ago they had a Note 7 case on clearance there lol.

One case you should consider is the Unicorn Beetle. I had one for the Note 7, then for the S7E and I just ordered one for the Note 8. I had always used defenders before and I was really impressed with this case and most importantly the belt clip.

+1 to the unicorn beetle i had one on my note 4 best case ever for the price the last few phones i had didnt have a unicorn beetle available so iam glad so see the note 8 will have one i was hoping for more than black i guess ill have to make do....

I'll be getting the Supcase. Had it for the note 7 and got the iBlaison for my s8+. Liked the Supcase a little better.

While these bulky cases might offer slightly better drop protection, any phone can break when dropped.
Personally, I can't imagine keeping a nice looking phone like this inside of a cage. I want to use it and enjoy it. Accidents will happen. That's life. I just try not to put my phone in a position to make accidents more probable. So, I tend to stick with the slimmer cases, just to provide better grip mostly and protect against an occasional drop.
People sometimes are in positions where they may need extra protection now and again if their job calls for it or are just clumsy. I understand that. It's just not for me.
Don't skewer me. Just my opinion.

My Spigen cases and Neo Flex protector came in the mail yesterday but I tend to be pretty cautious with my phones.
There are some that are super clumsy. Guess they will need a case that is much more protective than just Neo Flex

I will probably get a defender. None of the stores around here have it yet. I might order another case online though and then get the Defender when Sams has it since they're cheaper.
