Do HOME REPLACEMENTS slow the phone down?

I've been using Launcher+ beta it is basically an even more minimalistic Home++ made by the same guy.
Was just gonna say that .... launcher+ is pretty legit. I wish I didn't have to download anything but there is no lag and its exactly the same as stock just with more screens.

I think it is definitely worth installing a home replacement. Some may be faster than others but the benefits and features of the home replacements are well worth giving them a try.

I have been using Home++ this week. It seems very quick and no lag at all. That said I do not care for the bottom dock it provides and much prefer the DxTop bottom dock slider. I like having more screens with Home++ but for some reason prefer the Diamond format from DX.

Wow, I'm really glad I read this thread. I saw most people were using dxTop back in the "show your screen" thread, so I figured it was the best and have been using it. I decided to uninstall and try Home++, since everyone seems to think it's faster, and boy are they right. I had forgotten how fast the Droid could be, and how smooth transitions should look. No more staring at a black screen for 3 seconds, then half of my wallpaper for another 3 seconds, before the home screen finally comes up.

I do miss the diamond pattern of dxTop and the skinnable, dual drawers with all apps plus running apps, but overall I'm happier. Now if I can just get used to the weird dock and its odd voice search, plus the absence of the notifications bar (I know you can get it back, but I'm seeing if I prefer it gone first).

launcher + slowed my droid and FC constantly. I tried all the fixes (remove widgets from stock home, etc.) but to no avail. I really like the simple addition of home screens. Hoping for a fix because it's really great.

Yeah, I may have spoken too soon. Though it's still a lot faster than dxTop, Home++ starts you out with almost blank pages, which may have contributed to me thinking it was so fast. It's also very annoying - why can't it copy over your existing 3 home screens, like dxTop does? As I've added icons and widgets, things are starting to slow. Not like dxTop, but still enough to make me think it might not be worth having a home replacement at all.

I am using the Home ++ beta and I love it. Gives upto 7 screens and they are constantly updating to make it more functiona. Like the others, it has the occasional force close, but over all it is great.

I always click "Wait" instead of "Force Close" works flawlessly for me, never have to close Home++.

Thats where I am right now.... runs so nice without one.. but I love the drawer feature... I almost never used more than 3 screens... 4 is about perfect for me and that was not available in OpenHome..

Yea. At first it seemed like launcher+ was perfect. But as I added screens (5 total) and put icons and widgets on them, the app failed, the phone slowed considerably and FC's like crazy.

Really? I don't think I've had a force close yet going on around 4-5 days, running 5 screens .... 9 widgets and only 7 icon spots blank.

I use dxtop and it can get a little laggy. However if I killed some apps it fixes it.

using home++ on 2.0.1. Will be keeping it till 2.1 rolls out. They will have more screens, and hopefully some good roms come out for it where i wont need a screen replacement anymore. Or maybe it will make home++ run better. we shall see
