Couldn't I just have one copy of each thing and use it on 2 different roms? I don't see why I need to back up. It takes up way too much space. Also, can anyone recommend a good rom? I've got Bamf cubed and I hate it. something that give me a lot of options to change settings. I can't even turn off keypress vibrate on Bamf

Let's try breaking this into two questions.

Couldn't I just have one copy of each thing and use it on 2 different roms? I don't see why I need to back up. It takes up way too much space.

First, what??? "one copy of each thing and use it on 2 different roms?"... I flash all kinds of ROMs and usually change ROMs about once a week, which has slowed since the release of ICS, so I'm hoping to see that soon... but I'm still not sure what you are asking. The main thing to backup is your data... each ROM has many different aspects, so you can just keep the same things from one ROM to another... same apps, sure just back those up and reload the apps and their data... I like using MyBackup Root.

Also, can anyone recommend a good rom? I've got Bamf cubed and I hate it. something that give me a lot of options to change settings. I can't even turn off keypress vibrate on Bamf

There are a lot of ROMs out there... if you don't like Cubed try Forever if you like a good Sense ROM and I'd personally recommend stopping at 1.0.9, which is a patch so you'll need to flash the full 1.0.8 then flash the 1.0.9 patch, and be sure to remove any BAMF_Extras folder on your SD card before flashing this ROM.

If you like a real Android experience, then you might consider Liquid Smooth 3.2. Biggest criticism with most AOSP ROMs is the lack of MyVerizon app and NFL Mobile app... to me and a lot of others that is no big deal.

These are two of my favorite ROMs. Both are very solid and can be used as daily drivers.

I thought you had to back all apps up. I was never able to get my other apps on the other ROM and still have all of the data for it

Some ROMs, not all, will actually just download all your apps again for you... otherwise you need to manually download them by using the Market app or the web version.

hi fatboy97,

UpStreamMiami helped me get Cubed 1.0.9 on my device, which of course had to have 1.0.8 flashed first, so my first question is, is this the same case with the forever rom - as in, stay away from 1.10 final and go with 1.0.8 and add 1.0.9 for the forever rom?

and my second question is, when I'm going from one rom to another, let's say cubed to forever, while on cubed I'd create a titanium backup of all user data and apps, though the question is, when I'm on forever, would I titanium restore 'All user data + apps' or only 'All user apps' ?

Yes, Forever 1.0.9 is a patch... so you would need to flash the full ROM prior to that patch first, then you could flash the patch without booting up first.

and my second question is, when I'm going from one rom to another, let's say cubed to forever, while on cubed I'd create a titanium backup of all user data and apps, though the question is, when I'm on forever, would I titanium restore 'All user data + apps' or only 'All user apps' ?

I don't use Titanium backup... I've heard it's ok to restore app your app and app data, as long as you do not restore any System data.

Personally I use MyBackup Root to backup just 5 or 6 data from the apps... this way I get a fresh download of all my apps... after I restore the data from MyBackup Root I then have to reboot prior to use any of those apps.
