Hi,
Ok so my Moto G is being delivered on Wednesday 27th Nov 2013 (V exciting!) and being totally new to Android I need some advice from the more experienced of you.

When I tried the Moto G in store at Phones4U I remember that the salesman said I should download an anti virus app before downloading other things so that the phone stays protected.

Do I need an anti virus app? And if so any recommendations for a good one, preferably free ( hopefully simple to use!)

Thanks :)

It couldn't hurt but you don't actually need to install an anti-virus. No one will ever fault you for doing so. I installed one (Norton) just for safety but honestly it isn't needed and I haven't upgraded to a pay version.

No you just need to be careful with what you install especially if it's not from the Google play store

Also this. There is a setting enabled by default that will prevent you installing apps from unknown sources.

Thats what the said about PCs years ago.

Be sure and run a good one. Doesnt hurt. May help down the road.

Install Common Sense instead of antivirus. Use it at all times. It's your best protection. The biggest threat to Android is Android users.

Android user since v1.0. Linux user since 2001.

I would say yes just a added layer of protection.

A few of Mobile Antivirus give you up to 1 year free subscription with most features unlocked.

I avoid mobile banking.. and rarely log into important email accounts whilst I'm on my mobile, and I didn't root my phone.

Anyway Motorola is going to be owned by a Chinese company. With all these hacking going in the news, your in safe hands even with an official OS ^^.

But this is me being paranoid.
