Help me out.

I just sold my Xoom 4G, and I was thinking I could get the Transformer Prime and if I need the 3g connectivity I can tether via my Incredible 2. Problem with that is while the phone is being used as a tether, I can't use the phone for calls. I won't have a 4G phone for a while so am I getting this tablet? I take carpool twice a week for 45 minutes and occasionally if I travel. Keep in mind I won't have access to a charger for my phone whole I tethering so my battery will burn.

Are there any other options that have similar characteristics and aren't 729 like the xoom 2

I can see the transformer prime as a long term device it has so many features and expandable memory for movies and other entertainment this will be my school laptop and used for entertainment to watch movies and listen to music.. I Think it a better value than anything out now and in the near future

Grove IP

If you are unsure about the Prime you could wait until it hits stores and the general public has a chance to review it. Keep in mind ICS should take this device to the next level. $500 is a big investment for most so I understand your hesitation.

$500 isn't that much of an investment when you consider I paid 800 for the original xoom. I think it's a pretty fair price. The only downside is that it only has wifi. They said they would release a 3G version for the original and never did. If they do for the prime, I guess I could sell the wifi one and buy the 4G one right?

I have Groove IP but never use it

I might sell you mine. Since the .14 upgrade it always reboots when surfing online. it will come with a free case. Pretty nice case too. I don not believe office depot will take it back since I am past the 14 day limit.

I would get it it if you really want a new tablet. The Prime is nice. The random reboots aren't 100% gone, but they're very less frequent now.

The battery life is also amazing on it. Best battery life I've experienced on a device.

You should wait on getting the Prime so there is one more chance for me to get mine. LOL

Haha

Just FYI... I have yet to experience a random reboot or lockup on any build on any Prime I've tried (and I went through a few before getting one without a defect). So, that's one issue that I think has been less prevalent than complaints might imply.

If it makes you feel better I'm doing the same thing as you. I tried the prime out at a local best buy and fell in love with it. I'm coming from and Sgt 10.1 which was a great tab. Its just time to go quad core for me

Gamestop, who would have thunk it. lol

Anyone recommend a slim case or sleeve? I'm thinking this is a keeper.

I have waited until I found a case that wasn't huge or loose fitting. I have a case similar to the caseseen skinny for myTF101and don't hate it but don't love it either. I just ordered this one on eBay for my Prime and it looks really nice and a bargain as only eBay can deliver. Check it out.

One thing that makes the Prime so amazing is that the keyboard dock comes with a USB plug which will also charge your phone. So if you are tethering just plug the phone in to the dock and you will be fine for many hours.

Thing I don't get about the keyboard dock, I bought a tablet. If I need to type on a physical keyboard, I pull out my laptop. Get a macbook air if you want something light with a keyboard.
