Just purchased a pixel 2 xl. It's going great so far. Hearing battery issues starting with the Nov update and esp with the Feb update. Should I take the update or not? Suggestions would be great. Maybe I'm being too paranoid.

Well, it is better to have your security up to date. IMO, updates are always a bit of a crap shoot. Usually they are fine but certainly sometimes some can be affected and others not. I took the update and noticed no problems.
I've had other updates in the past and on other devices that caused me to need to do a factory data reset. if youre that concerned you could hold off till the March update and see if that brings a fix to those that suffered a battery hit with the February update. It's only another 3 weeks. What I noticed around the various forums is that more people seem to have no issues than those that did have issues. Your decision tho.

Knock on wood but I got mine on Friday and did all the updates and I am blown away at the battery life. Going on 1 day, 14 hours with 4 hours of SOT, and I'm at 30%. Last night I kept it off the charger and I think it only droped 5-6% all night.

As others have said, updates are kind of an unknown game. I've had updates that actually improved my battery life (on other phones); and then I've had some updates that kind of messed with it or other features. But it's good to have the latest security patch - there are "new and improved" viruses/hackers coming out all the time.

Why purchase a phone that updates monthly then question not updating ???
