Do not drop the samsung s8

I don't want to rub it in, I totally get your frustration! I returned a phone because there was a small scratch on the bottom back that you could see just in a certain angle! I know how crazy this sounds but when you buy something so expensive you want it to be perfect (and rightfully so).

That being said, it's glass hence it shattering like glass. Samsung isn't really to blame here as it never claimed it was solid and shatterproof. And I'm certainly not saying you are to blame either. Those things are portable and therefore proned to be dropped. And I'm really really feeling for you!

When I got my S7 I left it in the box until my case arrived. That's how scared I was of it breaking. In that respect, the last part of your message is the most important: never use it without a case.

So kids: Never use it without a case!

I bet Samsung will continue to make glass devices as long as they keep selling well.

Speaking of kids; my girlfriend has an S8 and its the first device she won't let the kids play with even though it has a case.

No one spoke of recklessness. Carelessness is less severe than recklessness. I've never dropped a phone unless I was being careless. Have you? If so, how? Talking about the details of specific accidents is something we can usefully learn from.

Ok now we get it. Because YOU only drop a device due to carelessness that means everyone else who drops one is due to carelessness also. You're from the popular message board school of thought that if my device is flawless that means you're lying about yours having problems.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way.

I think we've come to the conclusion in this thread that glass shatters if dropped. I'm comfortable with that realization now.

You raised an interesting issue. Has Samsung ever gotten a bad review from an Android site? Some Apple biased sites may but that's more against Android than Samsung. Samsung not only dominates the market they've cowed all the reviewers.

Samsung could make a device from cardboard and the fan boiz would stab you in both eyes should you criticize it.

If you are reckless, you don't think or care about the consequences of your words or actions. The word reckless comes from the Old English word receleas, meaning "careless, thoughtless, heedless."
As the great "man" said in the movie Predator, "**** happens". It's called an accident and unless you're a Scientologist (who apparently believe there is no such thing as an accident - it's your fault) then get over it and move on. In the real world **** happens! The older you get - the more this will become bleedingly obvious.

I used to never drop my phones.
All of a sudden, I hang them on something with my otter box case a nd it hits the floor.
I last it down on the table..it gets knocked off onnth e floor.

I never drop mine but I was walking with my son and he decided to try and take it out of the holster and it hit the cement.
Only the back glass cracked.
I'm thinking a skin may cover it...
Maybe I will reach out to Samsung

So much hate in this thread. I have dropped my iPhone 6 and then 6 S+ sooo many times. Always in a case. Always a okay after the drop. Never has a scratch. But the S8 is already notorious for being crazy fragile. Hasn't stopped me from ordering one. But I'll definitely be using he Wells Fargo insurance if need be (just a $25 deductible).

I learned from my S7 Edge. I WALLET CASE ONLY. The screen must be totally covered. Close it when not in use. I bought the case before I bought my s8+.

I'm lucky I bought a otter box defender case.
Know it's bulky, but it is very protective.
It's not the phones fault. It's my fault.
I don't pay as much attention as unused to.
Getting older.
Got too much on my mind.

The problem with wallet cases is if they don't latch closed is that they can come open and land right on the screen. Happened to my daughter when she got a used S7 at Universal. Only got a small scuff when it skidded across the concrete.

I am wondering what the best wallet cases are for this phone. No question the coolest case I ever had for my iPhone 6 was a brown leather wallet case from Alston Craig (or I think that is what they were called). Leather, magnetic closure so it STAYED CLOSED if you dropped it. Just fantastic. Well, other than it was REALLY thick!

Thick sucks.
