Do the new Moto X's ship with 4.4

I know that Moto recently updated the X to 4.4 . Does that mean that 4.4 comes pre-installed on new phones or do they need to be updated after activation? I hope to be getting mine this week and was going to try to compare battery life of 4.3 to 4.4 if it's not already updated.

When I got mine over the weekend it had 4.2 onboard but the phone picked up that there was an update to kit Kat after I was activated. The update was very quick, around 15 minutes total.

It never had 4.3. Went straight from 4.2.2 to 4.4. The phone will indicate an update shortly after you turn it on. At least thats what mine did a couple weeks ago

Mine arrived pre-loaded with 4.2.2. on Sprint (yesterday) and when I checked for updates out of the box - nothing. It'll be released soon enough.

Last I knew, Sprint's doesn't have 4.4 yet.

Pretty sure mine arrived with 4.2.2 this weekend. I had to update to 4.4. It was pretty quick though.
