Do to, or not to do...

I figured I would be more tipped in that direction in here :-P TY for the explanation. I looked around some and did find the Incredible at the HTC website for free. They must be going to roll out TB here soon. Looks as though Verizon and HTC is trying to push their stock out. I'm wondering in the TB will roll out just after that 14 new return period expires for the Iphone. That way they are stuck with them and can't return them for a Droid.

Based on what you have said you are looking for and my experience with the Incredible I think you two will be very happy with it. I tend to get the "itch" for a new phone and even with the new announcements from CES I am still happy staying with my Droid Incredible. It is a great phone!

I came from BB and now have the Dinc. Have not been sorry for one minute. If I had to pick another phone now I would still make the same decision. The X was tempting but decided it was too big for me. Vzw will NOT let you upgrade early even one day!!! That was my experience. I couldn't believe it!! Maybe the resellers will.

Love love this phone!!!

I am also asking myself the same question - Incredible now or wait for TBolt? The screen size is not a deal-breaker for me. And it looks as if beyond that, the phones are fairly comparable on specs? Are there any compelling reasons beyond screen size to go with the Bolt vice the DINC?
Although I am a computer professional and something of a geek, I don't do video or play games. Thanks in advance

I do know that it has a forward facing camera to where you can video chat. That is what makes me have the biggest interest in it. And it is a 4G phone. Here's the specs from the HTC.com site. https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...hunderbolt-verizon-wireless%2F&token=CyQQYQn3 Will come with a 32 gig sd card. Looks to have more memory too.

It kills me to see Sense being the deciding factor here... its as simple and downloading Launcher Pro, and boom, you've got a launcher that is quicker and better than Sense. Don't get me wrong, of all the custom launchers from the manufacturers, sense is the best, but it doesn't hold a candle to LP or even ADW for that matter in my opinion. Of course if you don't want to mess with third party launchers, I can understand that, its just So easy to install them.

Do any of the 3rd party ones offer "scenes?" I do use multiple scenes. That is one reason I stick with Sense.

The TB also has the 2nd generation snapdragon vs. the DInc's 1st gen so theoretically the TB should be faster with the more efficient architecture (think of it as a 1 GHz Pentium vs. a 1 GHz P2). And don?t forget the TB has a 768 MBof RAM to work with so there are some advantages. The real question is; are the advantages of the TB worth the $300 difference for 2 new phones or even the $100 difference in one phone?

Actually it's only 3/4 GB (768 MB).

I have an Inc and it is honestly the best phone I've ever owned. Yes mine is rooted and slightly modded, but it's still stock Sense- it just works for me. HTCs are also the easiest phones to root, thanks to the great team at unrEVOked..

I have the dinc and my wife has the X. Both are fine phones. One thing that I would consider is the battery. The dinc's is rather underpowered. I was pretty consistently dying around 7:00 if I didn't charge during the day. Of course, this can be solved by a larger battery (which is what I eventually did), but the X seems to do pretty well with the stock battery.

As far as Sense vs. motoblur, I use the ADW launcher, which is free from the market. While it's nice to have the phone pretty out of the box, the user interface is one of the easiest things to change. Either phone is pretty awesome in my opinion.

I've played with custom launchers and while they are well done, I always come back to "Sense" because I just can't seem to find a free calander widget that competes in form, function, and asthetics... The thing about sense is it is baked into everything and it all works together, unlike downloading several widgets from different programers and they don't talk to each other the same. One theme for all, if you will...

If you're coming from the Storm 1 you're gonna fall in love with the Dinc. If you have the S1 it means you dont have wifi. I never had it before my Dinc and that alone was almost worth the entire experience but its much more than that. Everything works! And its fast. No more battery pulls. I can count on one hand how many times I've had to do that. And all the apps you can find. I currently have 91 and my device hasnt slowed down once. It may seem overwhelming at first when you first open up that app drawer and see all those apps. Especially coming from Blackberry, I was at first intimidated by all the apps because I'd never had to deal with so many because my device wouldve exploded(slowed down to a crawl) trying to handle that many apps. Internet...yes, like you've ever experience on the Storm. Like I said to someone else, its llike going from a Pinto to Porche convertible. I say go for the Dinc if you cannot wait for the TB.

I have posted on these boards before gushing with love for the Droid Incredible. Dibdab, this is, without question, the best phone I have ever owned. I have had a number of phones over the years. Now, as a smartphone, the Droid Incredible is very powerful. The Memory storage for apps are more than adequate. And being an Android phone, it's as customizable as you want it to be. I love the Sense UI. That is the custom user interface skin from HTC that streamlines all the features in the phone and incorporates everything seamlessly. You get 7 home screens that you can customize anyway you want with apps and widgets. The GPS on the phone is from Google and they keep refining it (plus it's free!).

I use my DInc for the internet, as I am on the move a lot. And the stock browser on the phone is, imho, top notch. Remember that customization I mentioned? Well, if you don't like the stock browser on the phone, you can go to the Android Market and get a new one. It's all up to you.

As a media phone, it's very good. I listen to music and watch movies on the phone without a hitch. Email is also handled in a real streamlined way, as HTC Sense gets your contacts, email, social network and pictures and puts them in one place so you don't have to sift through 9000 different menus.

I will tell you from my personal experience, my Mom has a BB Storm 1. And I had to setup her phone for her. She loves the phone, but she isn't one of those tech savvy users. I found it frustrating to use. This Droid Incredible is the greatest phone I have ever owned. If and when I get another phone, (and that won't be for at least 1 more year for my upgrade to kick in), it will be a phone that is very similar in functionality to my DInc. And May 4, 2010 (the day I got the phone!) is the day I fell in love with HTC and the DInc. The HTC Thunderbolt looks so good. And since it seems that 4G is making it standard to have a rear and front-facing camera for videochatting (thank you Jetsons!!!), maybe that will sway you. But the size, sleekness and power can't be beat. I really hope that helps.

DibDab, I have to agree with everyone gushing love for the Incredible. I had a Storm 1 as well and got the Incredible on launch day. If I were you I wouldn't wait another millisecond to go get you and your husband an Incredible.

It will take a little getting used to - the biggest thing being not having to close apps, or do battery pulls, or worry about memory. Seeing web pages as they were intended is also a very nice change from a BB.

You seem worried about the memory, and I saw someone above mention that they have 91 apps on their phone and it hasn't slowed down. He's not kidding! Here's a link to a list of of all the apps I have installed on my Incredible: fillossofer's Apps on the phone

I used to think my BB had a sensor that could tell when I really needed it to work, and that's exactly when it would go on strike. For me, it is priceless never having to curse at my phone. I love it!

Now go get it and report back!

I used a bb as well, and it SUCKS compared to my Dinc.

I've had an Incredible since just after it launched. The Droid X was announced just after my 30 expired, so I was very annoyed and thought the X would be better. I good friend of mine has it, and I have to say, I prefer the HTC MUCH better. The screen size is nice for web browsing and movies and other cool things, but it also is a big huge Phone bulging in your pocket. I find the Incredible just the right size. Any bigger would bother me (just coincidence it is almost identical in size to the iphone?)

The other thing(as you can tell by my signature) is I like to play around with my phone. I have rooted it (you learn more about that when you get an android phone) and it is FAR more customizable than a motorola. I like the HTC sense interface and menu's better than motorola.

The only thing that seems to be holding you back is the front camera on the thunderbolt. I feel you there. I will probably spend the money and buy the thunderbolt outright when it comes out because of the front camera. I have some friends with an EVO on sprint, many friends and family with iphones, so to be able to video chat is nice, especially since skype is about to release a version for the iphone so that they can video with other carriers and phones.

BOGO is a very tempting offer too. Two Incredibles for $100 is a fantastic deal. Great phones that will last you a long time. I am always wanting the next thing that comes out, but hard to pass up a good deal as well.

I'm sure the Tbolt will be priced at $199 so two of them would only be $400, plus if you have a new every two (before that disappears) would bring it to 300 or 350 depending on your plan. You have to decide if the front camera and 4G LTE will be worth it for you. But I GUARANTEE, the DINC is better than the X

Why I chose the DInc

I too came from Blackberry :D. I wont dis the berry's but I wanted more capabilities. I had the 8330, 9530, 9630 and 9650, all were decent :o. But making the switch was really hard for me since I was stuck on berry's for 4 years. I researched all the Droid's heavily :) before choosing the DInc . My final choice came from actually playing with my final two choices, the DX and DInc. Two things kept me from choosing the DX, I really liked HTC Sense and the DX is really just to bulky. Now after using the DInc for 3 months I will tell you it is just simply awesome.
My suggestion to you is to go to a VZW store and play with the two.
