Do We Really Still Need Screen Protectors?

I decided to go with a Samsung LED View Cover yesterday. In stock at our local BB. Works great, and has some nice NFC features you can control. I've never had a phone in a folding cover before, so it's a little odd getting used to it. But I like that I can still go naked on the screen itself, and have the screen truly protected from any kind of scratches. I do not have to open it to take calls, so no face smugs on the screen.

Time will tell if it's "the answer" for me.

Check out the amovo 2 in 1. I have it and it is the best of both worlds.

I havn't used a screen protector on any curved screen including the S6 edge, note 7, s7 edge and now note 8. So far so good, no cracks, nicks, however I believe I did have 1 very minor scratch on my s7 edge.

I'm not using screen protectors. Yes I have gotten very very minor screen scratches (though hard tonsee) on previous phones. So far I don't see any on my Note 8 yet. I have 4 good cases and with the exception of yesterday have been drop free. When I did drop them they were protected and came out unscathed.

I do like how they look, the really good ones, and realize they probably do protect the screen better, but I just don took a using them on mine. I do see why people like them - they are a great protective choice and work out awesome for those they use em

That version is edge adhesive only... Good luck
Works fine so far. What issues are people having with them?
I've actually had more issues with the ones that have adhesive in the middle. Bubbles or breaking loose of the adhesive in the middle not the edges.

Screen sensitivity, especially writing with the s-pen

I stopped using screen protectors about 6 months ago and am happy I did. Finger glides so much better over the real glass.

This article brought up another reason I prefer a screen protector on a new phone... besides not wanting scratches, in the back of my mind I have wondered how durable the oleophobic coating is on these screens over time and while phone is new rather just preserve the screen best I can otherwise it would annoy me.

In the article he said, "The oleophobic coating on my unit has started to wear very visibly, particularly around the home key, after just a couple of weeks. (I saw a similar trend on my S8 Plus, only after several months.) All phones will eventually succumb to this, as the smudge-resistant layer wears off. But the fact that I'm seeing it after less than a month is troubling."

I have never personally had an issue with the coating on any phones but I have seen examples of it on another phone. My friend had an HTC One when released and maybe within 6-12 months he had wear mark right in the middle of the screen where he's always swiping. He currently has a 7 Edge after he had to give back his Note 7 and a year later, he doesn't use a screen, and it doesn't have that clear shiny look anymore to it.

I've mentioned in another post, often I'll run a screen for a year cause I'd be annoyed with anything happening to the screen and after a year I usually take it off not caring as much and usually don't have any issues going forward. But I do it for peace of mind.

No protector on mine, I just use a good case with bumpers at the bottom and top to keep the glass from touching when it is screen down. I also never put anything else in the pocket I keep it in.

I just can't rawdog a phone this nice. The only time I did was on the note 7 and I scratched the screen the first day taking it in and out of my pocket. I usually go with the IQ shield glossy protectors which have been great since screens got curvy. But with the note 8 i went with this Whitestone dome glass screen protector ... hot damn it's nice.

It's basically like having a second, stronger, screen atop the note screen. It's amazing. The installation is way more complicated than any other screen protector I've ever used, but if you can read and follow directions it's fine.

Today I was in Sam's club and I saw a Zagg invisishield glass curve on the rack for $29.99. I've seen them everywhere else for $49.99 so I said what the heck and bought one.

It's actually pretty good. My case doesn't lift it and I haven't lost any sensitivity that I've seen. The pen writes just fine and I can swipe the notification bar the same as before.

The only downside is the strips of glue on the sides. On a bright white background, like a web page, you can see them but my brain is already tuning them out.

I hate screen protectors but I'm going to give this one some time. Sam's gives you 90 days to return so we'll see how it goes.
