I actually turn animation off.
Been doing that for several phones now and believe it then gives the fastest experience.
I may be wrong but everything transitions instantaneously without animation.

I also turn them all off 1st thing I do with every phone. To me it just seems like it makes the phone quicker.

I used to turn it off. With the Pixel 3 XL I have not felt the need to. So far the phone has not lagged or seemed slow to me.

It's a personal preference where to set it, but it does not change the phone's performance or fix lagging issues. That would be like watching a movie on fast forward and saying your DVD player performs better because of it.

I usually set mine to 0.5 but I haven't touched it on the P3. Everything is running too smooth already.

I left setting alone on P1, P2, and now P3.

I've spent the past day with the animation set at 0.5 and I just switched it back to 0.
I just prefer the immediate transition without animation. It gives the perception of being snappier.
Again, this is on my 2xl, but I anticipate doing the same with my 3xl if I ever receive the replacement device, but that's another story altogether. Lmao
