Do you get used to large phones?

I'm talking 5.5"+ screens. I'm in the market for a new phone, but I'm coming from a IPhone 5s, so I'm not sure how the transition would be. I also happen to have tiny child-like hands, so I was hoping to be able to get first-hand experiences from other users.
Thanks in advance.

you will get used to it very quickly and once you do you'll never want to go back to smaller. when you pick up your old small device it will seem like a toy and you'll wonder how the hell you ever used such a tiny screen.

Yes you will get used to it. I used to think I could never handle a Note then I got a Note 3 and haven't looked back ^_^.

Ah too bad the Lg G4 didn't have a fingerprint scanner; I'd pick that up in a heartbeat.
Are there any apps that you use to make one-handed use or use in general more manageable? And how is pocketability affected?(especially since my 5S-- with a fairly large case -- barely fits in a fraction of my pockets)

If being able to use a phone with one hand is important to you, then don't upgrade to a bigger screen. I actually downgraded in size to a 4.5 inch screen and I'm a lot happier. I can make phone calls with one hand, text with one hand, scroll web pages with one hand, launch all my apps with one hand, etc.

Bigger screens are nicer for longer viewing sessions, but I find that during the day I only quickly glance at my phone, then turn it off again. I'm only using my phone to read texts, emails, or check FB quickly - none of which take longer than a minute.

If I want a bigger screen for longer sessions like web browsing or watching a video, that's what my tablet is for.

No i don't like large phones and will never get used to them period.
Easy One handed use is very important to me and so i prefer compact phones.
My current phone has dimensions of 124.8 x 64.8 x 12.3 mm (4.91 x 2.55 x 0.48 in) and that is my upper limit.
However the screen size is 4.3 inches which translates to ~63.0% screen-to-body ratio.
So what I'm saying is i wouldn't mind a larger screen as long as the size of the phone remains the same. So what phone companies need to do is make phones with high screen to body ratio percentage.
This way one can fit a bigger screen without making the phone any bigger.
For example this Sharp Aqueos Crystal has a screen to body ratio of 78.5% with a 5 inch screen and dimensions of
131 x 67 x 10 mm (5.16 x 2.64 x 0.39 in) making it the most compact 5 inch screen phone in the world. We need more such phones with big screen in a small body.

I've basically used the same size phone for the last 4 years.

That's about ideal. I like a 5" screen but really wouldn't want to go larger. (Have a Droid Turbo now.) Let tablets be tablets, and phones phones.

Thanks for all the input guys. :) The case on my phone makes it about 68mm wide (which is the main factor in one-handed usage imo) and probably around 12mm thick (that's just an estimation though). I never find it unwieldy, but then again the screen is only 4". So I feel like anything under 70mm in width would be okay. But most of the "flagship killers" (Oneplus 2, Moto x style) are phablets with widths of 75mm+! *sighs* I think I'll try out a larger phone, but fingers crossed for an awesome Z5 Compact.

I always find it interesting how people make universal statements or assumptions based on their personal experience. To follow in that tradition I am hereby informing you that no, you will never get used to it because I, some random guy in some random country that you have never met and most likely have absolutely nothing in common with, didn't get used to it at all, and therefore it must be true for everybody, especially you :D

The truth is that some people don't mind large 5" or 6" phones and others hate them with a passion. Being an iPhone 5 (123.8 x 58.6 x 7.6 mm) user I wasn't exactly thrilled when Apple introduced the 4.7" iPhone 6 (138.1 x 67 x 6.9 mm), to say the least. Quite frankly even the 4" iPhone 5 still feels slightly too large for one handed use since I can't reach the top of the screen with my thumb when holding the phone with my pinky underneath it to keep it from dropping out of my hand (I know, I know, I'm holding it wrong). However, I did decide to give it a shot and got two different phones to make sure I would be able to get used to a larger screen size: a 4.5" Lumia 635 (129.5 x 66.7 x 9.2 mm) and a 5" Lumia 830 (139.4 x 70.7 x 8.5 mm), and I'm glad I did because I've learned one thing for sure: anything larger than 4" is a no-go from now on. I can't tell you how often I dropped or almost dropped both of these because I had to seriously contort my hand for one handed use. As a result my thumb started to cramp because I had to stretch it far out of its comfort zone in order to reach not even the top but the 5" 830's middle of the screen. One handed use is very important for me and that was nearly impossible with the 4.5" and completely impossible with the 5" device. After about six months in total I gave up and replaced the iPhone 5 with an iPhone 5S. Never again am I making that mistake ever again, it was at times painful (for both my thumb and the phone accelerating towards the concrete) and more often than not very uncomfortable to use.

I would highly recommend getting a cheap phone roughly the size of what you're looking for and make sure it won't cause any spasms and pain.

If you have small hands, like my wife, then you probably won't like a large phone. She bought herself an iPhone 6+ and has been hating herself because she needs both hands to operate the thing. I have a 6+ (soon a Note 5) and I can completely operate the phone with one hand.

Another thing most people don't consider is where they will be keeping the phone when they're not using it. If it stays on your desk, then it doesn't matter if you have a Nexus 6; but, if it stays in your pocket, then you might want to consider how comfortable you are going to be. Larger phones take up more pocket space and can be uncomfortable when sitting/exercising.

Simply put, this is completely subjective and dependent on what you want out of the phone vs. how you are going to use it. When you go into the shop to buy one, don't be afraid to sit there for a half hour playing with it (I wouldn't recommend sticking it in your pocket though.)
