Do you have/did you have an ultra and move to a s20+?

Curious to see if the camera and overall experience of the S20+ is better than the ultra. Or if I should just keep the ultra until the note comes out.

I don’t have much interest in the 4a or OnePlus.

I went from the S20 Ultra to S20+. While there are things I miss about the Ultra, the S20+ camera seems to not have the autofocus issues and in my opinion is a more consistent performer than the Ultra. Another plus, the size difference just makes it a more comfortable phone to use. Both great devices but to me the S20+ is the better buy.

I'm with you guys. The ultra seen heavy and that camera bump killed it for me.

I've seriously been considering returning the Ultra and getting the Plus. I have adjusted to the size and weight of this beast. The main reason I was considering returning the Ultra was because of the camera focus issues. The camera has received two updates since I got the phone and they have definitely helped. I know that the focusing still isn't as reliable or as fast as my old S10+ and there is definitely a learning curve to understand its limitations.

I am probably going to keep the Ultra though because what attracted me to it is the quality of zoomed in pictures that it can take in the right conditions. The zoom camera has a relatively "slow lens" (in photography terms!) at f-stop 3.5 which means it needs a good amount of light to take good pictures (ex. outdoors in the daytime or well lit indoors). But it definitely can take very good long zoom pictures and video.

When there is enough light, I have taken some really great shots that I know I wouldn't have been as good with the digital zoom on ANY previous camera phone that I have had. I've shot pictures and video zoomed out to 10X with some really great results. Even beyond 10X, the picture quality is passable for most social sharing.

I think I can make it work in most of my shooting situations which is usually outdoors in the daytime. The way I look at it is that this camera can take good pictures at longer zoom levels (up to 10X to even 30X) than any other camera phone I have ever had given the right conditions. Heck my point and shoot pocketable dedicated cameras only has up to a 4X zoom!

I returned my 512 ultra and as soon as they process it I will order the s20 plus. They said the will give me a coupon code for the trade-in that I did for my s10+

I bought the Ultra and love it, never even considered getting the S20+. But, I had an iPhone XS to trade and getting the ultra for $739 from Samsung felt like a no brainer.

Indeed, it's the better all-round phone in my opinion. Perfect size and better auto focus, to heck with the 100X useless zoom.
100x is just the max, which isn't very useful but I have no issues with 30x getting me shots I could have never gotten before. Between 4x and 10x it's really great

With regard to your dedicated camera, don't forget that the X factor is relative to minimum and maximum focal capabilities of any given lens or digital crop factor. So it's really difficult to compare 4X to 4X between devices or lenses. Having said all that, the Ultra probably has a longer focal length than your camera. I think it's great out to 30x even though some of it's a digital crop.

Note 10+ which I still seem to grab just as much as my S20 ultra. Love the form factor.

I had the S20+ for a couple days and ended up returning it for the Ultra. After going having both, if I could go back I'd probably have just kept the S20+. Don't get me wrong, I love the Ultra but I don't really think it's worth the extra. The 100x zoom is kind of neat but not really all that useful. I do like the bigger screen but it is quite a lot bulkier. Doesn't really bother me much but the S20+ was light as a feather. I'm not unhappy that I have the Ultra, I just think the + would have been fine.

I returned my Ultra, I just wasn't happy with the camera and the focus issues. I do plan on getting the s20+ instead.

I returned my ultra 512 and got a 20+. For me it just made sense as my final price was 599.99 with my trade in as opposed to 1199.99. I don't feel like I am not missing out on much by going to the 20+..

I had the ultra until last Thursday. I was still in my return window so I exchanged if for the 20+. All the reports of the camera lenses cracking for no reason bothered me enough to make the switch. I actually do miss the size of the ultra and the battery was a bit better but the camera seems to be better on the s20+.
