Do you honestly need a screen protector?

Couple of variables....how well you treat the device and how much you will care if it were to get scratched...

Even the toughest screens can be scratched. Samsung doesn't use the toughest so its even easier...or at least less hard.

I enjoy the piece of mind of a screen protector. I have an iPhone for work and I was getting home one day, forgot it was my lap and when I got out of my truck it fell, as I turned I kicked it to make matters worse. The otterbox and screen protector were all scruffed up. I have no doubt the phone would have been destroyed without both of them. This was an accident, I try to be gentle with my stuff but I'm glad I had the screen protector and case because accidents happen.

I'm also the type of person that would hate having even the smallest scratch though...

I dont use a screen protector either. Never have, never will. It degrads the input from your finger when you use a screen protector. Plus for me its pointless. I dont put my phone in my pocket. Its always in some sort of a case where its covered up. $500+ phones deserve a little more nertchering from me. Thats just my experience.

That's like saying I nurture my beautiful child, I don't make him wear a seat belt I just drive very carefully.... :-)

Holy cow. Nurturing, buddy. ;) I nurture the hell out of my phone, which is exactly why it has a screen protector. Any MINISCULE scratch on the screen will drive me up a wall.

Yes! I couldnt spell it lol. I just cant use a Screen protector. Im usually very careful with my device and it has a case on it all the time :P

Screen protector and case. After years of smartphones all of them still look new because I took care of them. My incredible still looks new.

I agree with this, plus I sell mine as soon as I buy a new cell phone and they sell for more if they look new.

My phone is completely naked. I never use cases or screen protectors. My iPhone 4 is still in pretty good condition, but it's got minor scratches all over the front and back. My Galaxy Nexus still looks brand new. Not even the tiniest little scratch so far.

My wife had a droid 3 in a case sans a screen protector. I got her a Galaxy Nexus and sold her Droid 3. After cleaning up the D3 I noticed a faint scratch on the screen and ended up dropping the price 100 dollars in order to sell it. So I put a screen protector on her Nexus. I myself do not use screen protectors as I only put my phone in my front pocket and nothing else in that pocket. My wife throws hers in her lab coat pocket and her purse so is a higher probability of it getting a scratch.

People really need to get it out of their heads that if they put nothing else in their pockets it won't scratch. Dust and grit is the enemy hers, not keys. Sooner or later you will scratch your phone in your pocket as well

My phone sits in my right pocket by itself. No case or screen protector ever. I'd rather roll the dice than have those things stuck to my phone.

I use an SGP Steinheil Ultra screen protector on my E4GT and just put one on a second E4GT as well as my wife's iPhone 4s...

Would not go without. Actually prefer having a screen protector - hides fingerprints, cleans easier and does provide that feeling of protection when bouncing around in my pocket.

All pros, no cons from my viewpoint

If i cared what other people thought of my phone I'd get an iPhone. Have you actually seen Amy case or screen protector in the past few years? Doesn't sound like it. Good screen protectors are near impossible to notice. There are good thin cases like the incipio feather, which I use when I go out, or heavy duty cases like some of the seidio's, which I use for work. Some are thin and nice looking, while others serve a purpose like protecting the phone when people are active. Not everyone sits at a desk all day

It is just like the laptop screen protector, I would feel more comforable without it. Moreoover, since my phone is a clamshell type, i just save the worries,'cos the screen is not so exposed.

I've used screen protectors on most of my phones. From my experience if you get a high quality one, it doesn't take away from the screen. The ones at Verizon are ok but not the best IMO. They scratch up easily and collect fingerprints much worse than the glass.

Is eveyone wearing really baggy pants to have your phone bumpin around in your pocket? I never put a phone just in my pocket. If I sat down, Id be affraid I would sit on it or snap it. Oh well, Belt case for me. Better safe then sorry in my book. But I still aint putting on no Screen protector. I never got a scratch on any of my Android Devices. Ill take my chances. I want the phone to swipe when I swipe it and not lag because of a screen protector.

I go bareback with my prior phones (BB Storm, Droid X, TBolt and Charge), doing the same for my Nexus as it just doesn't feel right with all that protection on it. I carry in my front pocket and without anything else in it - Never a scratch on my screen and sold all my phones without any scratches in like new condition.

Lag because of a screen protector? What the hell are you using? Everyone talking trash about them should really try a high quality one and see how wrong they are.

I ripped mine off, it just feels so dam good touching this baby without anything on, LOL. The damn thing left fingerprints all over and it would collect greese from my fingers. I just ripped it off. Just love the smooth glass on the screen.

Agreed - a high quality screen protector will enhance the overall experience - reduce glare, hide fingerprints, make cleaning easier - and there will not be any lag.

And of course I carry the phone in my pocket, from time to time I'll accidently put some change or my car keys in the same pocket - and be REALLY glad I have on a screen protector.

I COULD put my device on my belt - on a clip - but I would not feel comfortable walking around with that big "L" on my forehead :D
