Do you leave "High Accuracy" on for location the whole time?

I have friends that leave all their radios (WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, etc) on all the time and claim it doesn't impact their battery life at all. I'm mostly interested in GPS. I turn high accuracy on whenever I need to navigate. Back when I had an iPhone it was so convenient being able to open the maps app and skip that step.

Can anyone provide their experiences?

Re: high accuracy location services always on

I've never noticed any difference with GPS on or off. Unless you have a lot of apps constantly polling for location when the phone is idle, there should be very minimal to no impact.

I keep high accuracy on all the time.

Thanks for the replies. I was worried about an app in the background polling GPS. Do you guys close out all your apps after you're done?

You will see if it is (the GPS icon). I usually clear my recent apps except for Textra and Hangouts -- Just so I don't have a million to scroll through. Google Now is set to ping whenever it wants and I haven't noticed any massive drains. I am sure if I shut it off it would help some since GPS does hurt battery some but not enough for me to care since I have chargers everywhere and with QC it can get a good amount of juice really quick.

I set "Locating Method" to GPS Only and get noticeably better battery life.
I only switch it to High Accuracy when I travel or need access to Navigation.

Anyone else?

I've recently discovered that keeping location turned on with GPS gives me better battery life than keeping the GPS off.

Well that's interesting

I keep everything on all the time. Gets me through a whole day even with my android wear watch connected, and using my phone as a tether for my iPad. I'm using an S7e.

Kept it on, and gave me 0.8% and hour. It's the data that's killing my battery life. With wifi or mobile data on, I'm getting 4% an hour. Playing games reaches up to between 8-12% an hour depending on what game I play. Looks like I need to look into the Game Tuner power saving features. Lol. Some of my games (Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, etc) don't need full CPU power or 60fps anyway.

The biggest reason I keep mine on at all times (GPS) is Android Device Manager.
If I lose my phone or get locked out again I stand a good chance of recovering it.
Learned that one the hard way & it doesn't seem to harm my battery as badly as on my S5. I'll see an app or google check my location every once in awhile..

I leave it on high all the time. I don't notice much difference in normal usage

I think I'm going to give it a shot and see how my battery does
