Question Do You Still Prefer Wired Earphones in 2025?

Hi everyone,

With all the focus on wireless earbuds and ANC headphones these days, I’ve been wondering—does anyone here still prefer good old wired earphones?

Personally, I feel wired ones still have an edge when it comes to sound quality and not worrying about charging. But at the same time, wireless is so convenient that it’s hard to go back.

So I’m curious—what’s your take? Do you still keep a wired pair as backup, or have you completely moved on to wireless?

Would love to hear what others are using right now!

I have a pair of wired IEMs by KZ (one of YouTuber Dankpods's recommendations) that I bring on plane trips, since it's not always possible to connect BT earbuds to the plane system (and there's also the issue of BT earbuds running low on battery).

I keep a pair of wired earbuds (along with a USB adapter) in the side pocket of my key pouch both as a backup if the wireless earbuds run out of battery and also for listening to the radio commentary for a sports event on my personal DAB radio while watching the event in the pub where the TV commentary is either off or too low for my ears. Also keep a Bluetooth adapter on my belt so I can still use those wired earbuds to listen to a podcast or something before and after.

I mostly listen to speech content so premium audio quality is not much of an issue. But as well as the wireless earbuds I also have a pair of over the ear wireless headphones which sound better with music.

TBH for serious recorded music listening then you have to be at home with your hi-fi system playing through quality speakers.
