Do you still want to root or is the SIII that good?

After one week of having ad's again I rooted
But I'm also surprised it took me a full week.

Yeah, the ads suck. The bowser is faster than my old phone, but it doesn't really feel like it just because it sits there waiting for all the ads to get returned from the umpteen different servers that they are coming from.

That's really my only pressing issue with not having root.

Rooting took all of about 5 minutes (10 if you count reading about it), so it's not like it was a ton of work and you get enough benefits that I don't see a reason not to. Just my two cents.

Alright, you're getting me interested...

What is the state for "un-rooting"? Easy to un-root if a person wants to accept an OTA update? I'd be inclined to root, but I don't want to hassle with manually updating an image file if/when JB is released in a couple months.

I rooted my Droid X because it started giving me problems. So far I see no need to root my S3. It does everything I want and does it well.

That's exactly how I feel. I'm absolutely loving how smooth this phone is and I really don't mind the boat ware because I get to hide it all. This phone is exactly what I've always wanted.

Gave in after ninja's root method - no Rom flash necessary. Rooted, installed cwm, backed up stock, uninstalled bloat, did a titanium back up, installed Google wallet and WiFi tether. Now I am happy!

I am right behind you, I will probably use this method over the weekend. :)

What does rooted wifi tether offer that an app like foxfi doesn't?

I had previously rooted my HTC Aria to flash an upgrade to 2.2, but my SIII has plenty to work with, so I'll just wait for the official OTA Jelly Bean. I don't have a reason to root the phone yet. But, the recovery backup is tempting me right now.

where did you get the google wallet apk from?

Scratch what I said earlier :-! I just rooted my phone and ran a backup... which was the main reason for rooting it; and since I didn't need to re-flash the device it was a no-brainer.
