Do you think 2.3 will be the update fix?

I hope that 2.3 will be part of the next update to fix reboots. If not they may take longer to give it to us because i dont see them pushing 2 updates in a matter of 2 months. I have had 2 phones replaced with my 2nd being a new one and still have reboots. I'm going to holdout for the update to see if that solves all of my reboot issues and hope 2.3 comes with it. Please give your thoughts on this.

They will have to get the next update out fast due to the problems that lots of people are having after the last update.

I wonder why they are taking so long. Is it cause they wish to push 2.3 with it? Its starting to make both HTC and VZW look bad with this being the first LTE phone. The phone would be almost perfect with 2.3 and the fix to stop reboots. I love the sense UI and the way HTC makes their phones.

I hope it is why they are waiting (the 2.3) that would be great.

The 2.3 update is not specifically related to the OTA update we got on 2.2. However, I would expect the code from the 2.2 OTA update to be rolled into the 2.3 product. Possibly with additional changes 'cuz of all the apparent 2.2 OTA update issues. Only time will tell.

The thing is... moving from 2.2 to 2.3 is a big enough change that it will be a whole new ball game. It will have its own set of bugs. Some connectivity issues may carry over from 2.2, or may not. The recent OTA update code may apply or may not (IOW, they may have re-written the radio access portion of 2.3 and the 2.2 OTA update code will no longer apply at all). There is no way any of us would know this. We just have to wait and see.

If the wait is long i will root to get 2.3 after the devs get it rolling smother. Have you ran any 2.3 rom on your TB FranXS. If so is it a daily runner you would roll with? That is if your rooted FrankXS.

I did not download the OTA update, and after hearing all the problems and not trying to now! Is there a way to upload the update and not have the reboot problems? Or does it not have anything to do with how it is uploaded?

It's a crap shoot. Personally I think every phone that's received the update is rebooting and some people just don't notice.

When you get one of these random reboots, do you also hear the thunder sound like when you purposefully reboot?

Thanks, Robrecht

Not rooted here. But so far that doesn't seem to make any real difference on the reboot issue.

This is an interesting point, Robrecht. There have been some random reboots after which I have heard the thunder, but others when I haven't heard it. Nothing predictable about the occurrence of audible thunders, at least not for me.

hearing the thunder depends on if your phone ringer is on or silent. at least that is what i have observed

For me that is not the case... No Thunder sound on random reboots but if I manually reboot then I hear the Thunder.

I'm not sure I agree with this comment. Let me ask this...If I go to Menu/Settings/About phone/Battery and look at Up Time and Awake Time, wouldn't that tell me how long it's been since a reboot or manual shut down occured? I could swear that was a reliable way to track the last reboot when I was having them. Yes I said "was having them". For some reason I believe my post OTA random reboots stopped happening almost two weeks ago. I haven't noticed any, and my Up Time is 190:19:53, Awake Time is 106:40:42.

Disagree, according to my TB it has been up for 291:50:00 or 12+ days. Not sure why others are having so many reboots, but I would try a factory reset.

no. it is silent; the only way I've caught reboots is the short vibrate as it restarts the white HTC screen.

After the OTA, I had about 3-5 random resets a day. I did a factory reset on my phone 2 days ago, and haven't had a random reset since.

Can't speak for anyone else, but I get the whole reboot sequence, including the thunder sounds (assuming my phone isn't set to "silent" or "vibrate", of course) This is sometimes my clue that it's happening again if the phone is in my pocket at the time of the spontaneous reboot.

I'm in the swype beta group and every time it reboots I have to manually change my input method from "swype" to "touch" and back again to re-initialize it. It's a PITA. At the moment I've given up and just gone back to the stock keyboard.
