Do you think the Note 8.0's worth the price?

It would be nice to have one connected via cell or WiFi.

To be honest, I was a certified Apple fanatic for the longest time. iOS is looking old and warn out, but that's besides the point. The moment a Samsung rep demoed the Note 8.0 for me I was hooked. I needed a decent productivity tool that had a pen and handwriting recognition. Nothing on the iPad or any other platform comes close. Windows 8 is a waste - no decent apps. The Android platform was a heck of a lot better than I had envisioned. As far as the price, considering the $25 credit to Google Play and the S Pen, a screen that is better than the iPad Mini, and a lot of built-in apps that are extremely useful, it's worth the $399 price tag. I have not stopped using it for work taking notes using S Note constantly. This is one of the biggest surprises out there in the tablet market and I highly recommend it. And my iPad is gathering dust...

I have both the Note 8.0 and an iPad 4. I present mathematical lectures with both. The Note 8.0 is great and well worth the price. I don't need handwriting recognition but I do need to write and the active digitizer makes the Note 8.0 a real gem. On the other hand, the iPad has far better apps for the type of things I do. I alternate between both. Interesting contrast actually. I wouldn't like to have to choose but if I had to I would go with the iPad, but I can see someone else choosing the Note 8.0 or the follow up to the Note10.1.

Windows 8 is actually quite nice in my opinion and nothing compares with pdf annotater on either of the 2 other platforms. Unfortunately the 16:9 aspect ratio of the Surface pro makes working in portrait mode strange for me. 4:3 is the best by far but only Apple seems to have stuck to that. I have this terrible feeling that they might also go wide screen which would be a real shame.

As far as the Note 8.0 being worth the money. Yes! The only real downside is the battery life which is half what it should be.

I am an iPad 4 owner as well as a Note 2 owner. i just got promoted to a new position that has me taking notes non stop. In my first week, I had a pile of illegible nonsense in my tattered Moleskine. So this weekend, the 20% Office Max thing prompted me to buy a Note 8. Then I missed it, so I settled for the $379. I think I NEEDED to get a discount of some sort to justify it.

Today I took notes in a meeting for the first time on the Note 8, and it worked flawlessly. I used Evernote w/ the handwriting recognition keyboard. The only time it had issues with my chicken scratch was when I forced them by overcompensating.

I love the size for work, and the book cover is enough protection to cover it in my bag.

I have noticed some battery drain, but I have not yet optimized my settings at all. Just played with it aside from my meetings today.

Worth the money? Yes. Better with SOME discount. Oh yes.

I've only had my Note for a couple of weeks, but I'm already a pretty dedicated S pen user. Either its drawing capability or its handwriting recognition with S note would make the Note worth the price difference over my husband's Nexus 7, and the two together are a matched set of killer apps for me. Not that the Nexus isn't a great tablet, and aces for media consumption, internet browsing and general use, but the Note is an interesting art tool that can *read my handwriting*. I've been wanting something like that for a long, long time.

I also get 2 or 3 days of battery life with light use (browsing, writing and drawing, no streaming or gaming) and I anticipate that I will get very acceptable work all day/ charge at night battery life when I'm on the road and it and my beloved iPod Touch are my only computers. That will be fine with me.

Imo...yes! I have switched my iphone 5 to galaxy S4 and just sold my ipad mini to get the note 8.0. Next up is replacing the macbook pro. The note 8 is better in so many ways its ridiculous. Its worth the little bit extra money.

Absolutely. At this point, there are no equivalents in this size/format factor with this kind of performance.
