I keep changing my mind on smart lock. I wear a Garmin watch which is connected to my phone all the time so having smart lock on is great. But every so often I worry about security and turn it off for a few weeks. How do people feel about it? The Bluetooth range is so long nowadays that your phone could be in another room to you and be vulnerable which concerns me

If people don't use smart lock, what is your preferred security method?

I use it with my Gear S3 and all my Bluetooth headphones. Not worried about it. if you lost or it was stolen just turn off Bluetooth and use find my device.

I text a lot about my coworkers and would be in a lot of trouble if someone happened to pick my phone up HAHAHA- so no smart lock at work (or with my Huawei or MK smart watch)

However- at home, and when my car is connected and bluetooth headphones. The home/location works when it wants.

Yep. Home, work and vehicles are trusted locations, and I've got my gear Sport as a trusted device, so my phone is basically never locked unless it disappears, which is the whole point, right?

Yep I use it for my BT in the truck and the trusted home for at my house.

speaking of smart Lock . does anybody know why do I have to have my location on when I'm at home for it to work because I have a axon 7 and the smart Lock is set up the exact same way and I don't have my location on on my axon but it still works when it's connected to WiFi . is it something I don't have on that I don't know about ?

I think Samsung's one is based on location. Thus why it needs the location on.
Not Samsung related. I have pixel 2 XL and location need to be on for phone to know you are home :).

There is no wifi smart unlock. May be axon has that as custom feature.

I use it for my Bluetooth headsets only. I don't use it with my watch, that's to easy for it to be unlocked when I'm not around the phone.

Use no security of any kind. On the other hand, I use find my phone on my watch all the time. Yeah, I know it doesn't make much sense.

I figure it take. 3 seconds to unlock the device with the FPS so I've found no use for smartlock yet although I really should used it for the car.

I have smartlock enabled with my watch and car. If my phone is somehow taken, it's going to lock once I get like 15 feet away from it anyway, so I'm not worried much about security. If someone manages to swipe my phone and gets the watch off my wrist without me knowing, then kudos to you master thief.

I figure that in an armed robbery (gun pointed at me), they would probably take my phone AND my watch.

I have a complicated system using Tasker that only leaves the phone unlocked (and unlockable with the FPS) when at home. When away, PIN lock only!

Exactly what I do. If my phone is at home, at work, or within Bluetooth range of my wrist it's unlocked. If it finds itself anywhere else without me..it's locked

Well here's to hoping that never happens

just the smart lock on at mine and the girlfriends place.

work I like the lock down cause I regularly walk away from my desk with my phone on it and don't need people accessing my stuff....years in retail and returning to 200 photos from coworkers in my phone have ruined my trust

Not sure what part of the world you live in, but in the US there's a <1% chance of you being robbed at gun point, even in the cities with the highest robbery rates.

I mean, if that's what makes you comfortable then go with it, but it just seems like really odd rationale given the extremely low probability of it actually happening.
