Root warranty affecting software only, or software and hardware.

Say I was to root my nexus 6 from verizon. Unlocked the boot loader (which states it may void warranty) and rooted it. Then the next day I dropped it and broke the screen. Would I be able to bring it in for a replacement due to it just being hardware, or would the "tampered" software not allow it to be fixed.

Alright, I don't know about Verizon but I know AT&T has an insurance plan to cover dropped phones and accidents.

A standard warranty with any carrier will not cover phones damaged due to user accidents unless you pay to cover that.

I have turned in 1 rooted phone and another on its way for warranty and never had a problem.
