Does Android still use .nomedia?

If so, what file does it go in? I have a lot of reference apps with pictures and they show up in Gallery. I installed Piktures and shoved them in a separate album and hid the album, but ,nomedia stopped all pictures from apps even displaying in an album from the minute you installed an app.

".nomedia" files are blank text files that instruct the system to ignore the folder that they're in when scanning for media files to add to the various media databases (including Gallery). The system will also ignore any subfolders.

For your situation, use a file manager app to create a blank text file titled ".nomedia" in the directory where your reference apps store their pictures. This should prevent them from showing up in the Gallery.
