Does Anybody Actually Use The Figerprint Security Feature?

Do Use The Fingerprint Scanner Feature?

I gave up on the finger print, I actually liked this future on my 5s, it just doesn't work on my s5.

After this thread I tinkered with it -- still have no clue what the 'horizontal' is but I was watching 'TheAndroidGuys' youtube videos about random things on the phone and saw a thing on there. I ended up using a different area of my finger and now it works atleast 9/10 -- or they updated it since 3-5 weeks ago when I first used it.

I'll post back if I have problems, but pretty glad I don't have much issues with it now.

I just set it up and it took many tries before I could get it done because of the lip of the case. When I finally got it done, I tried it and I couldn't get it to read it again because of the way the lip protrudes above the phone, so I'm back to using the PIN. I like the idea but I'm not going to sacrifice the case for this feature. BTW, my hands/fingers are average size.

I'd love to use it.

Takes too many swipes to unlock though and it virtually unusable with a case on my phone.

Wish it was like the 5s.

If you set all three settings for the same finger/thumb it is more consistent.

Yes, but then if you get a cut, scratch, whatever on that finger, you may not be able to use it.

Why can't it be is it a patent or design issue?

Yeah, if you lose the finger for some reason, simply open the phone with a password and set up the scanner for another finger/thumb.
Now, if you lose all your fingers you might be out of luck. 😈

Yes. Love it. Works best with my thumb. Usually unlocks right away or at least after second try.

Sure, in the event of disaster there are always other options.

But I guess what I'm referencing is this. I use the fingerprint scanner a lot on my laptop. Sometimes, for instance, I'll be drinking a beer or whatever, and my right hand and fingers are wet. I use my left index finger instead. It is a little awkward. But it's easier than typing a password at that point with a wet right hand, and my wet right hand isn't going to work with the fingerprint scanner either.

I guess I like to keep my options open for all contingencies. :)

I love the fingerprint reader.

I wish I could store 4 fingerprints instead of 3, but other than that I really like the functionality.

I am giving it another chance to see how it performs.

Fingerprint 1 - All eight with my right thumb.
Fingerprint 2 - two with either index finger and two either middle finger.
Fingerprint 3 - All eight with my left thumb.

I really struggle swiping it properly with my left hand for some reason. Took me fifteen minutes to register fingerprint 3.

I finally tried the fingerprint scanner. It worked really well for me, though I won't be using it as a phone lock. I just wanted to test it out. I do think it'd be nice to be able to just touch to scan as opposed to slide, since I think one-handed unlocking would be easier (especially with the thumb) but it worked pretty well in terms of recognizing my print without multiple tries.

I think it would be easier to slide your thumb from left to right instead of up to down

Definitely.

I've turned it off now. Far too inconsistent for me.

I chose "yup, I love it" only because I use it. Not because I "love" it. Id rather use the pin feature but I hate how android phones require you to hit "ok" after entering the pin. So annoying.

When I do lock my phone I use the finger print scanner. It's fast and easy-to-use for me. Nice feature I think.
